A COMPELLING READ - JUST BUY IT
Not having satellite/cable TV, I only came across Ree Drummond's cookery show by accident on the Food Network and was enchanted by the (seemingly) simplistic life she and her family lead on their ranch in Oklahoma.Ree is not only a wife, mother to four children (who are home schooled!!); writer of children's books based around her dog, Charlie; blogger and photographer, she also (somehow) finds the time to prepare the most wonderful meals for her huge brood whilst living a two-hour drive from the nearest town! Her recipes are honest, down-to-earth and you don't have to fill your pantry with exotic (fad) ingredients - a bonus in my book.I was intrigued to learn that she had been a city-dweller in LA - a frequenter of wine bars, museums, art galleries etc and had a sophisticated boyfriend in tow - until that once-in-a-lifetime chance meeting with a cowboy that opened her eyes to the possibilities that Life had in store for her - one that was new, often scary and a million miles away from what she'd become accustomed to. The book charts their relationship, the anguish and heartache that puts it to the test, their disasterous honeymoon, and the first year of their married life - and I read it in four hours! I simply could not put it down and if you like the TV series showing on the Food Network, you'll love this book.Intriguingly, Ree never once mentions her now-husband's actual name (Ladd) - he's known as 'Marlboro Man' throughout, just in case you haven't cottoned on (I only knew because I read a few of her blogs) but I'm hoping there will be more books to follow as her family continues to grow and she is exposed to the vagaries of being a cowboy's wife, with all the trials and tribulations that Life will doubtless throw at them all. Must say, I can't wait.

A must buy if you want to read a true love story that will melt your heart
This is THE BEST true love story you will ever read. The writing is both heartfelt and hilarious. Not a page goes by without you laughing out loud or clutching your heart wondering what on earth will happen next. The path of true love doesn’t follow a straight line and this book tells all that and much more. I loved this book because I had been introduced to the protagonists on the cooking program that I have recently become addicted to and as a result my husband and I have had many delicious meals created from this fabulous tv series. This book is a real winner. I read a bit and tell my husband what’s happening and we look at each other in amazement and we laugh out loud together.

Witty and well written i could hear Ree's voice as i read it!
I would not say i was a romantic person and i rarely read love story books as i consider them soppy!! I love, love, loved this book and i know i will re-read it and that is also something i rarely do! I laughed, cried, sighed and did it all again and again. I had watched pioneer woman on the food chanel here in the UK and i was curious when she said she was an "accidental" country girl and i wondered how she ended up there. A beautiful story and i think it would be a good film. I would love it if Ree did a follow up. Yes i would defo buy that book too. So come on Ree! Pretty please?

... been reading Ree's blog for years so I was glad to finally read this
I've been reading Ree's blog for years so I was glad to finally read this. I enjoyed it a lot, it reads very much like her blog (the first chunk of it did start as posts on her blog) and it was nice to get know the start of her and Marlboro Man's story.

Utterly wonderful
I rarely write reviews but this has to be said.... this book is enchanting. Beautifully written and made even better as it's a true story. I'm not even at the end of the book and I couldn't wait to implore you to read it. I'm not a massive romance novel reader either but this had me.hooked in the first two pages. I doubt you read all these Ree...but if you do... THANKYOU for sharing your beautiful love story with us. It's reminded me there is so much more out there and you never know when it will stut into your life wearing a starched shirt and wranglers.

Ree Drummond - life story. A good read.
I bought this book for my wife as a present. She loves watching pioneer woman cooking. This book was a great insight to her background.

A bit disappointing..
I was really looking forward to this book after being a fan of the Pioneer Woman's blog, however it was a bit of a let down. The first few chapters were really good, her descriptions of meeting Marlbro Man and those first few dates were a good read, but after that it just got a bit boring. It's essentially a girl meets boy, falls in love, gets married and has kids story, with very little else in between. Isn't that the same story as most married couples? Apart from her parents impending seperation (which she seems to think is the end of the world but then fails to mention it much after it actually happens) there is no drama or hardships at all. She starts to develop a story then just seems to forget to mention it again (for example having a chemical peel days before her wedding, falling out with her mum over leaving her dad). The book also ends way too soon, it doesn't clear up anything that has been left hanging - her relationship with her mum for instance. The book is sold as a story of a city girl falling for a cowboy and how that changes her life, but the book ends very soon after they get married (and have their first child) so very little is written about her adapting to country life or how she came to start the blog and become so successful.I would have liked the last part of the book to be about that, not just some random recipes thrown in there to fill out the book.Overall I did enjoy the book, but it didn't leave me wanting to keep reading into the night like a good book should.

Tolles Buch

I love the book
I love the book, a very fast read. However, the book arrived fairly damaged due to being packaged in something that absorbed the rain we were experiencing that day.
