just love the Vera series, love Brenda Blethyn, wonderful actress

This box set is a bargain. Like other reviewers said, just turn off the subtitles and that’s it. I’m really enjoying it as I have missed several episodes in a few of the series, so nice to watch in sequence.

As mentioned by others Dutch subtitles need to be turned off. On my player in setup without a disc in.Plus points price and 5.1 surround sound

Bought this item knowing it is foreign. Turn off the subtitles and it's exactly the same as the english version. Absolutely fantastic price and delivered the following day. I would definitely recommend this product.

Shame that all the subtitles were Dutch. Still my understanding of the language is coming along nicely!

First saw Series 8 on PBS, by which time the production values had obviously improved. For an American, the Northumberland accent so pronounced in the early series make it difficult to follow the story let alone the mystery. The subtitles are only in Dutch, when it would not be a great task to make English a second option. There are many scenes where they are eating fast food on the fly, and the dialog when they are eating is a dead loss in any series.I checked to ensure there were subtitles before making the purchase, but failed to check what language. I would not have purchased the set had I known. If a set with English subtitles became available, I would throw this one away in a second and purchase the new one.

Just a great TV detective series with, no bang or glam , just old fashion detective work. Love the character of Vera stanhope too

I cannot give enough stars to the spectacular acting ability of the star of this show, Brenda Blethyn. She is the mistress/master of understatement. There is not an ounce of ham in her performances. In addition, the other actors do a splendid job as well. I do like the Ann Cleeves books upon which these dramas are based. The plots and characterizations are believable as true to life. Vera herself is someone with whom I can identify in many ways, especially as an independent woman who needs her solitude. She can be quite charming if motivated but she does not need the approval of the crowd in order to trudge on through life.

I just love Vera! She doesn't take any crap from anyone!!!! Can't believe the actress is 75 years old. Her old rain coat a la Columbo goes with her hat! At least her car is better than Columbo's You need to watch this, pet!

I love the Vera Series. While Vera seems aloof, she is protective of her softer side. She has past family memories that cause her some consternation yet, they also help her to weed through daily life and professional issues. Great 🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♂️ detective team working with younger members of the British Police Department. 🚔❤❤❤

I had my second thoughts over the price and I am glad I got it and will be ready to buy the next season when it comes out This is something that needs to be seen more than once because there is so much thereI put the subtitles on because many times it needs it
