Is this suitable for domestic use? I'd like to feed this to pigeons that come everyday to my garden.

Yes, by all means.  OvoControl is a general use pesticide. Your obligation is to read and follow the label.  Completely suitable for domestic use.

Does ovocontrol also work for duck population control?

Accepted Answer

The active ingredient in OvoControl has the same contraceptive effect in all bird species, if and only if, they ingest a daily dose during their respective breeding season.  That said, OvoControl is only approved for use in the species listed on the label which does not include ducks.

Does Ovocontrol work for sparrows?

Yes and no.  OvoControl will have the same contraceptive effect in all birds that regularly consume the bait. Sparrows tend to "graze" as opposed to pigeons that ravenously consume the bait.  The bait kibbles are also too large for sparrows and they will spend time trying to break them apart.  We have been working on alternatives, but still not there.

Does ovocontrol work for pet birds such as budgies (which from my experience are highly prolific)?

The active ingredient in OvoControl, nicarbazin, is thought to have the same contraceptive effect in all birds, with the proviso that they consume an adequate quantity of bait, daily.  We have anecdotal reports from customers using OvoControl successfully in other birds, although no data to support the use in parakeets.  OvoControl is only registered for use in pigeons and other pest birds.  If one were to feed it to parakeets, the kibbles would have to be cracked to make them attractive to the smaller birds.
