Tamiya’s 1/35 scale Military series is ideal for constructing diorama’s. The details on the subjects are incredible and extremely accurate right down to the expressions on the soldiers’ faces. Tamiya has a reputation for detail and accuracy and this series is a perfect example of this. The Tamiya designers work from measurements and thousands of picture references of the full sizes vehicles, including every detail and facet, to produce the most detailed models in this scale in the world. The quality of these models is such that many museums around the world use the Tamiya 1/35 Military Miniature Series to depict history to the visiting public. Up to the early 60's the Jeep remained the principal vehicle, since then the ubiquitous Land Rover has been employed. Since 1970 the SAS has used a more refined conversion of the long wheel base Mk II, as depicted in this kit. This version lacks windscreen and side doors, but carries mounts for two general purpose machine guns. 3 smoke candle dischargers are mounted at each corner of the vehicle and special equipment includes a spotlight , pioneer tools, stowage locers, and a rear tailboard extension which is used to carry stores: sand channels are another item, but other equipment, such as a radio set, is fitted depending on operational requirements. This jeep is for 1970 but SAS start since 1942. **Q: how long is the land rover** A: Approx 18-20 cms. The parts fit well and looks good when finished. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Interesting subject *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 6 July 2024* A good kit of an interesting subject. Like all tamiya products the build experience is good for the price paid. You get lots of extras and the model has lots of scope for up detailing as well.Downsides? The single figure is a touch drab considering the sort of soldier it is supposed to represent and the fact these vehicles needed three crew. Some of the fine detail, like on ammo boxes, seems a touch off scale. But if you really cared about this stuff, you are the sort who is investing in after market extras anyway. Most modellers will be happy.Oh, and the light pink plastic this is moulded in really messed with my eyes once a modelling lamp was shining on it.... Probably a me thing...
