Work without mouse mat on white desk?

Dear Nicola, This mouse should work without a mouse mat on a flat surface. Sincerely, Perixx Suport

Has this mouse got the left/right scroll buttons on the wheel? I use those a lot on my logitech but when this arrived it didn't seem to work.

The wheel can roll and has a single button associated with it, like on a standard 3-button mouse
