Great book. Highly Recommend
1. I appreciate it when publishers state whether it’s AI. This is the best AI book I have bought. There are some difficult spots to color because they are undefined or unidentifiable. An example is the left side of the picture where the hair meets the headpiece. There were areas where I couldn’t tell what was hair and what was the headpiece.2. The paper seemed better than most of the Amazon printed books I’ve bought. I used more than 16 prismacolor premier colors on the skin alone. Then, blended with the white pencil with no problem layering 5-10 light layers of pigment.3. The paper took the Carbothellos soft pastel pencils and blender stump on the headpiece and armor with no problems. I did not have to use a sealant to keep the pigment in place or from rubbing off.4. The portraits are wonderful. It was hard to pick one. There are men, women and orc looking pictures. A very strong Lord of the Rings feel to the portraits.5. There are 2 copies of each picture. One light grayscale for people that might prefer line art and one heavy grayscale. I used prismas on this picture but I find that oil based pencils like Polychromos do better on heavy grayscale. When finished with a colorless alcohol blender marker, the finished picture looks like a smooth oil painting. I will try a picture with my oil based pencils next. The oil based pencils cover the dark grayscale sooo much better. They are less translucent, less transparent.6. The background is done in Cheap mungyu soft pastel chalks in the Jasmin/pale yellow/cream color. They rubbed into the paper really nice and evenly to make the picture look like it was slightly glowing. The cons:1. There are faint lines from the toner and printing process. But I’ve had this issue with ever single grayscale book I’ve bought from Amazon. If you can’t deal with the lines don’t buy Amazon printed grayscale books.2. It’s full 8.5 x 11 inches. Pencils are expensive and I’m preferring the smaller 8x8 books lately. That’s just a preference and not really a con.If sci-fi fantasy like Lord of the Rings and portraits are your thing, I highly recommend this book. This is my first book from Rachel Mintz. I will likely buy more. Happy Coloring

Wonderful book!
I just recently purchased this book and I’m really enjoying it. I haven’t done a lot of grayscale, so I’m learning a lot. I’ve included a couple of the pictures I’ve colored so you can see the detail involved. It’s challenging, but well worth the time it took to color them.

Beautiful artwork printing is awful 😖
The printing is so bad and it is happening alot. If I was an illustrator I would be furious. Beautiful images but it doesn't matter if they can't print it right.

The pictures and the quality of the paper
I loved the pictures. Very very nice. There are two copies of most of the pictures, a light grayscale and a darker grayscale, which is a good idea. However, I was very disappointed in the quality of the paper. I didn't color any of the pictures because I am returning the book. It is very frustrating and unrewarding to spend the time and energy coloring a project and have the paper crinkle beneath each and every stroke of the pencil. There is obsoletely know way you can use water color pencils. The paper is so thin it couldn't handle the a drop of water. I really hate to give this coloring book such a bad review, but high quality paper is very important. It would help the buyer if the grade of the paper is stated in the listing.

Nice artwork, but I'm not a big fan of grayscale
I don't like grayscale, would've liked it better if it wasn't grayscale

GORGEOUS -- So Happy I Bought Two Copies
The package arrived less than half an hour ago, so I have given it a good once-over to study the images. There is one in there I won't color because I don't like it. But the others...seldom do I say I LOVE ALL (but one) OF THE IMAGES. I'm saying it now. Each image MUST be colored, TWICE.What is the one word to describe my impression of this coloring book? GORGEOUS!!! There are 35 portrait images, each done in dark grayscale and light grayscale. The cover (title and image) gives away what you will find within: The Elf of Paladin. Mostly female elves, but a few wow!!! males, a couple goblins (one of which is the image I don't like), a troll, and a dwarf. The ladies definitely have the vast majority, and all wear armor and amazing crowns or headpieces. I wish I could do a flip-through for you, but that is beyond my ability. I will say that the first person to put up a flip-through is going to sell a lot of books!!!The book is full sized, 8.5" x 11", and the pages have a thin black border around the images. The paper is better than usual. It isn't cardstock, but it is a good deal better than copy paper. It's not toothy, yet not fully smooth either. I haven't had time to test pencil brands on this, but experience says colored pencils of the wax variety will do very well, and oil colored pencils will do fine if you don't expect to get 7 or 8 layers down for a blend. I'm not up on markers yet, but feel leery of using anything alcohol based. Definitely use a protective sheet behind, no matter what medium you use. I would do that if I was painting on wood, but I'm over-protective. Still, if you use water activated pencils, I would protect the image behind.Pros: spectacular images with lots of detail. These are worth framing. Two copies of each image!!! :-DCons: AI generated, so now and then the eyes are slightly off, but I had to look for it to notice it at all. I didn't see anything so off that it couldn't be fixed by moving a line or two a smidgen. Sometimes the image is a little...fuzzy? Not crisp. But to me, that is a Pro, so you can blend the coloring so YOU decide exactly where the lines go.This is now one of my favorite coloring books. I'm still uncomfortable with AI generated pictures, but they are improving them at high warp speed. I don't know if that is good or bad. In this book, it's good.

Beautiful artwork
This book is full from first page, till the last with wonderful artwork. Two pages for each picture, one to paint /colour and one I thought could be kept and if desired to frame. True imagery and beautifully drawn to inspire the imagination, very well done. Glad I made the purchase.

Hübsche Bilder
Die Bilder sehen sehr schön aus, aber das Papier ist extrem dünn und verträgt absolut keine Feuchtigkeit. Nur für Buntstifte oder Kohle /Kreide geeignet.

Fantastic book '
As stated by another reviewer it was nice to see this artist actually admit this was a book of AI images.I have not started this book yet but I've looked through it closely, looking for fault lines in the printing and incorrect positioning on the page. I've only found 2 images with a light print line going down them, no incorrect positioning and no fading of the work except where you'd expect there to be some, so you'd adjust your coloring technique to match it. I think it's a great idea that the artist has put 2 different tones of Greyscale for each image, not only do you get the chance to do an image twice but it also helps in the way you lay your particular colour medium on the page. Mine is colored pencils in all different textures and hardness oil/was ext having 2 images helps find which set will work the best.I am really looking forward to starting this book and will add images if my review is printed.
