He is rightly one of the best-selling copies on the market and the first choice for the ambitious home barista as well as for many years of professionals. The contact surface of the tamper base (base/base) is curved outwards (convex) and made of stainless steel. Convex tampers have a lower flow rate and help for example, to save coffee powder in the catering trade as the same flow rate with less coffee powder, as this is better compressed. Coffees have a more intense taste when prepared with a convex tamper as the coffee flavours are better taken with you. The diameter of the tamper is 58 mm. Please measure the inner diameter of your portafilter before ordering to choose the right size and avoid wrong orders. Please do not use the outer diameter of the portafilter. The stainless steel base is beautifully turned and has a satisfying weight in the hand. The dark wooden handle feels nice and firm. )Overall, good value for a very pleasing object. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Superb tamper *by S***S on 24 February 2024* Great weight, lovely to hold and cheap ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent *by F***R on 17 May 2015* Excellent build quality. It feels lovely and weighty in the hand. Perfectly fits the 58mm basket of a Gaggia Classic. Also, the surface of the steel tamper has small concentric grooves which allow a very smooth action when rotating against the grounds. I find this creates a smoother more solid puck, and therefore better espresso. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/50231865-motta-8150-m-tamper-with-wooden-handle-and-stainless-steel](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/50231865-motta-8150-m-tamper-with-wooden-handle-and-stainless-steel) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-04*
