Really nice Steam deck protective case with a kickstand that works very well protecting my deck.
I got a Steam deck a while back and realized I really needed a case. I put it off for a bit but when I came across this protective case for Steam decks from UYIYE I decided to request it and give it a try. I like how well this is made and strong and durable it feels. I like how it fits my steam deck really well and even fits inside the docking station I have for it. I like how it has leather on the side grips that make it easier to hang on to my Steam deck. Though I don't use it much since I have a docking station, I do like the kickstand and have used it couple of times. And I like how the protective cover is black in color and really compliments my Steam deck. Definitely a really well-made protective case that I can highly recommend to any Steam deck owner. 5 out of 5 stars.

Action buttons are uncomfortable
I absolutely love this case besides the one down side of the action buttons do not sit high enough to comfortably press. The button are just about 1mm above the case making it very hard to press accurately when moving your thumb off the right joystick. If they could find a way to make the case thinner in that one spot so that the action buttons fit higher I would be a happy lad

Best bet if you need Steam Deck protective case and also use a Steam Dock?
My games usually have quests. Now I have one that has spilled over into reality. I'm searching for the perfect protective case that will work and function in a Steam Dock. This UYIUE case is the best I've found so far but it still has a problem in that the case design doesn't allow for the Steam Deck USB C to sit properly so a hard-to-find adapter is needed. That adapter needs to convert the horizontal Steam Deck C plug so that it can be inserted vertically because of the inadequate protective case design. Fortunately, I had one of these that came with another case. But that case didn't work because the Steam Deck wouldn't fit in the front slot of the docking station. But it did have an adapter for the C connection.I use a protective case so I can quickly take my Steam Deck with me when I travel but want it in the Steam Doc when I'm home. It has become quite a quest to get a setup where I can have both. Most cases won't fit in the front slot of a Steam Dock. This case will as you can see from the overhead picture. I now own four cases, three of which won't fit. But this case isn't perfect either because the docks C plug can't be inserted into this case. One day, someone might make and offer both a protective case and a dock where both fit like well-designed gloves. Until then, my quest continues to find a set where both fit together. Conclusion - with a C adapter this could have been a 5-star product as it is the only protective case, I've found so far that fits snugly into the Steam Dock front slot. But the design has a serious flaw (see the attached photos) for use with the dock's C connecter being blocked and unable to go into the case. So, value is low for someone wanting to use this alongside their docking station.

Fits perfectly
This case goes on the steam deck about a thousand times more easily than the other cases I've tried; deck sets in the back and the face pieces snap on to it effortlessly. (Other ones I've tried, you have to stretch them over the deck or kind of twist them into place.)Before I put it on, it looked kind of flimsy for some reason, but once it was on, it looks fine.Let's talk about the giant hinged kickstand. It will hold the deck at a number of different angles, but if you try to put it too shallow and the surface isn't really rough it'll slide down until it's basically putting all the weight of the console on the hinge. While it handles this fine, I don't think it will handle it fine forever.Installation 5/5Aesthetics 4/5Durability 3.5/5It's a fine little case if you want to protect the finish of your console. I don't know how much protection it will afford versus drops, but it adds a nice grip to the sides for playing the console portable and doesn't impact access to the controls too much (there is a little more thickness added by the case which makes the buttons and dpad a bit more recessed, which doesn't feel like it will impact gameplay after a little getting used to since you don't have to push "in" noticeably or anything.)The only part of this that I'm not big on is the kickstand; I think I'd rather use a soft case that can hold the Deck up at an angle inside of the case for travel. All in all it's decent, if you want a case you can easily install and remove, it doesn't get much easier than this one.

Not very comfortable, hard plastic
I have one of the soft plastic cases and I really like it. It improves the ergonomics of the deck and is very comfortable. We all have felt this kind of material which is like halfway between rubber and hard plastic. It has a fair amount of shock resistance as well and I feel like it does a good job of protecting my deck. The thing I don’t like about it is it really only covers the back and it doesn’t do anything for the top sides. And I wanted to protect those two. This is a hard plastic shell that snaps on the back and then has two side plates that protect your joystick areas. But the plastic is just cheap feeling and it has little shock absorbing qualities compared to the TPU. There is only a slight change in texture around the grip but it’s not really that comfortable. In addition the area around the D pad has a raised lip which makes it a little bit awkward to use the directional controller. And the plastic tabs that snap the plates in that cover the sides are very small. We all know what happens to thin small plastic tabs, they break. The last design choice I don’t like is that the kickstand is part of the case so when you fold it out you no longer have protection iver the back of your Steamdeck.I’m not certain about why they selected their materials and why they made the design choices they did, I just know that the end product is relatively unpleasant to use. And while they may offer your steam deck a more complete protection, at least until those tabs break, it also makes me not want to use my deck which is not what I was going for. It’s hard to see some of what I’m talking about in the photos. But I think you get the idea.
