Yes, it is difficult to use; but the effect is priceless
Yes, it is difficult to use; but the effect is priceless. This device is bloody difficult to see-through; but the image you might see, if you're patient, will show you just how effective is the light-source you're looking-at.Some years ago I was loaned an identical device, that was twice the size,; and the image was so easy-to-see that I was able to record it using a cheap, digital, camera. If you could point one of these devices at a human-being and get an image of their moral-spectrum, in the way that this device gives an image of spectrum of a light-source, we could bring-back hanging with a clear-conscience; never make a mistaken conviction ever again; reduce crime at a stroke; and drastically reduce the prison population. No! No! I've got that wrong, haven't I? I overlooked the fact that the prisons would be full again, in no time, with all the Politicians and Bankers. Children would denounce their parents and would negotiate for a Nine O'Clock bedtime. Mmmm!

Good resolution, good quality, good value.
Here is a typical spectrum of a compact fluorescent bulb. Bear in mind that the spectroscope has better resolution than the camera! E. g. The green mercury and terbium lines at around 544nm are clearly resolved by the spectroscope.I'm really pleased with the performance. Great little spectroscope. Used in conjunction with the Theremino or Spectragryph free spectroscopy programs it forms the basis of a really useful spectrometer.
