Who is permanent hair color best for?

Ideal for anyone seeking 100% gray coverage, long-lasting color, or a new look. Delivers multi-tonal, natural results that transform or maintain your shade.

How do I choose the best shade for me?

Take our quick Color Quiz on Madison Reed's website for a pro match. It considers your current color, roots, and goals to guide you to the perfect shade.

How long does it last & how often should I color?

Color lasts until hair grows out but fades over time. Most people reapply every 4–6 weeks. Use color-safe care to keep color vibrant. Be sure to subscribe to keep your color fresh!

What if I have stubborn grays? Do all shades provide 100% gray coverage?

Choose Knockout Collection shades (NNN/NNA) with extra pigment for stubborn grays. For resistant grays, process 45 minutes instead of 35. The vibrant shades (R/RV/RR/RC/CC) do not provide 100% gray coverage)

Can this lighten my existing hair color?

Yes, up to 2 levels on natural hair. It cannot lighten already-colored hair. For bigger changes, try Prime for Perfection or visit a Color Bar.
