I really enjoy this machine! Good workout- very little noise.
I really like this machine!Assembly of this machine took a little effort. It wasn't difficult but the written instructions weren't necessarily easy to understand so I definitely watched the video. Also I couldn't find the video link anywhere so I just youtubed it. I also had a very small issue with 2 washers being labeled as one size, but not fitting the bolts they were for. It worked out, I just swapped them with other washers but it was a small QA thing that was a little annoying. Overall it came together in probably 20-25 min by myself. It feels fairly sturdy and well put together.I am by no means a rower professional. I was looking for something quiet that I could put in my living room and just do short burst workouts while I watch TV whenever I get the urge. This has really been fitting the bill for me! I'm 5'7, around 230 lbs and I have no problems fitting on it or getting a full range of motion. My husband is about 6' and also gets a full range of motion. I like that the feet have a little bit of motion to them so you can really get a full leg extension. The seat moves very smoothly and really makes it feel like you're on a boat or something. It is also incredibly quiet. It has some noise from just having a wheel turning but you can easily hear the TV over it. You could absolutely do this exercise while people are sleeping. I also feel like it has a good amount of tension! I have it on the lowest setting so I can do it longer while watching TV, but the highest setting would definitely tire me out quickly. It is a very full body workout! The first time I did it for about 30 minutes and the next day was sore all over! You especially feel it in your back and arms if you're not used to it.The additional phone stand is actually quite big too and sturdy so you could easily put a tablet on it to watch shows if you have this in a separate workout area!My biggest complaint with the system is that 1) The handle bars aren't very padded so I could see developing blisters if you do it a lot consecutively and 2) You have to be careful to really keep the bars centered in the middle when you pull or else you might get the chord off track. 3)The seat is not very padded- it's mostly comfortable but does start to get a little sore after a while (kind of like when sitting on bleachers)Overall my three "big" complaints are really pretty small. It requires no power so you can put it wherever, it folds up so you can store it, and is really quite fun for me. I love that you can go as easy or as hard as you want on it. I'm very happy with my purchase and if it gets me moving for 10-30 min a day then that's a win in my book! :)

Quiet, great workout - just don't plan on moving it
TL;DRIf you do not intend on folding this rower, or are willing to machine your own parts for a slightly better fit, I think this is well worth it. YOSUDA support was nice initially, linked a video, then disappeared but Amazon Support really does the heavy lifting here so could be worth a shot knowing their generous return policy. In terms of grading the product as a budget-friendly rowing machine: excellent. Super quiet (dogs slept next to me) and I had a light sweat after 20min on just half the possible resistance. You really can't lean much to either side mid-stroke or the strap gets off the track and makes an intense grating noise, but you shouldn't be doing that much anyway without risking some mild injury. However, the assembly is definitely a "you get what you paid for" kind-of-deal. I ended up ordering an entire replacement just to try to fix my own problem after their support stopped responding (re: next section), so I know my couple of gripes aren't limited to a one-off experience at the very least since both bikes suffered from them. The main issue is absolutely the center knob - this is the piece that both holds the front of the rower and back as a single unit when in use AND is supposed to hold the back end in the air when you fold the unit. If you plan on leaving it in or never folding this up, this is actually a great bike - I mean that. Even in their videos and emails YOSUDA says the pieces "need to be perfectly aligned to screw in" and it really does have to be PERFECT since the knobs are manufactured a bit too short to be consistent and if you try to force it you'll actually ruin the bit of thread in the joint you need to ever connect it again. As an aside, when folded and "secured" with this knob and the one-way bolt they include it still flimsily rocks side-to-side but is prevented from slamming down and actually hurting anything. My second issue is the plastic housing for the magnetic system itself - it really could do with being just a bit thicker. Both units were about to burst at the seams and flexed almost open at a strong poke to the front. This latter issue was fine, but I knew I'd be having to contact them in the future for it so I figured I may as well reach out about the knob issue...Customer support is great until it isn't. As a new customer they are QUICK to respond and try to get you passed off to the correct support team for your issue; understand these responses will typically be between 6PM-1AM PST so ideally you are able to respond right away or the issue can drag on. I told them my issue, I watched the videos to troubleshoot, and was open to any suggestions - they were friendly, said they could send the part quickly, and passed me off to another team. That team said the line about "perfectly aligned" and to watch the videos, and after I told them I had and sent pictures of the knob/threading I never heard anything back. After 4 days I asked if there was any updates; after a few more days I ordered a replacement to check it myself. Knowing with the cheaper parts I'd have to inevitably talk to them again it is no longer worth the hassle for me.That said, Amazon Support has been surprisingly great. I dug out the original box (which I had already broken down confident in my purchase...) and was dreading having to disassemble everything. Other users saying it takes ~1 hour are not kidding - the videos help but the labeling/images are really that bad and you're bound to put at least one thing on backwards during. Amazon's "heavy packages team" answered all my questions about the original + replacement return and eased pretty much all my worries. I even told them I'd have to be taping up the original box pretty good to keep it together, and they said it's just a plus I even had that still. Definitely a silver lining after the disappointment of how everything turned out.

Needs a few tweaks to be really good
I know rowing exercises all sorts of muscles at a time and is an excellent exercise, so I've wanted to get a rower for some time, but was never willing to spend much money on it. I also wanted one that I could fold up since space is not something I have much of. This looked like the answer to all my dreams. It's close, but ultimately, it is not. Yes, it is cheap and gets the job done, so in that regard it's fine, but there are some quirks that I find annoying and unnecessary:1) Seat does not slide forward far enough. There is a pin that stops the seat from going forward too far and another to keep it from going back too far. There doesn't seem to be any reason for placing the forward pin where it is instead of just a few inches closer to the feet. I'm 5'7", so just a bit on the short side, and I feel like I can't QUITE get close enough to get a good stroke with my legs, so I wind up hitting the forward pin every time I come back down. I am also trying to get my kids to do some form of cardio every day, but when they use this, since they are much shorter than me, they have to stop with their legs only 1/2 bent. As noted, from what I can tell, there is no reason why the pin couldn't have gone forward 2-3 more inches. It seems arbitrary and that annoys me. SOLUTION: put blocks on the feet to artificially make the distance shorter.2) Center "foot" never touches the ground This is an odd design choice. There are feet at the far front and back, as expected, and then there is a "foot" in the center (at about where your own feet are) that ALMOST touches the ground, but not quite. Not a big deal while you use it, but this is at the hinge point for when you fold it up. That means 2 things -> a. there is a very large amount of stress here during use, so they had to add a lot of structural support to have it hold up reliably. This is accomplished primarily with a large screw that you have to turn SEVERAL times to get in and then reverse to take it out so it will fold. Once folded, you have to put it in the other side and screw it SEVERAL more times to hold the end up. The process takes way more time and effort than it should have to. Reversing the process is worse because you have to hold the center up while you try and turn the screw to get it to align in the first place. It also means that b. Once it IS folded up, it leans down a bit causing it to stick out into the room way more than it needs to. Simply designing the foot to touch the ground in the first place would have fixed both those problems. Partial SOLUTION: I put a board under the center foot. Folding and unfolding still take more time and effort than they should, but it's a bit easier and the end doesn't stick out into the room as much as before.3. Onboard computer eats through batteries and the wires are unruly. Even after tucking the wires into the compartment, they still try to poke out where the rower handles are. It seems like such a bad design. They should have added a piece of plastic in there to keep them away from the moving parts. This seems like an accident waiting to happen. In summary: Yes, it does get the job done, but you are going to get what you paid for. If you want nice equipment, you're going to have to spend more than this.

SUPER quiet
Great product! Feedback breakdown below:SETUP: Entire setup process (unboxing, directions, assembly, cleanup) took about an hour and a half (would have been an hour except for a few assembly mistakes on my part that had to be corrected).NOISE: This thing is QUIET. I've used several models of rowers, and this one is in a league of its own. You could easily use this next to a room where someone is sleeping and never disturb them.TENSION: I was pleasantly surprised by how much tension it generates. I'm a fairly strong guy, and after about five straight minutes of pulling at the highest setting, I decided to knock it down a few degrees to do the rest of my workout so I didn't get worn out. (Has 16 levels of tension.)RANGE OF MOTION: I can fully extend no problem (I'm 6'3"). The only thing that could be a bit better is that I can't get very close to the monitor when beginning a pull — I could still comfortably approach another 6-12 inches, but the stops prevent the seat from getting that close.HUD: The monitor is fairly basic in the information it offers, but I was pleased to see the calorie tracker seems much more accurate than most other equipment (like ellipticals that tell you you've burned 500 calories after a 20-minute workout). Also can show time, number of pulls, and other basic info. Has a nice spot where you can also set a phone or tablet if you want to watch something as you row.COMFORT: Very good. The seat is better than some high-end models I've used at gyms. The pedals where you place your feet are a little strange, though. There's a chance I didn't quite put them together the way they're supposed to be, but each pedal has a bolt going through it that attached directly to the main frame. However, this bolt is directly under the middle of your foot, and the bottom of the pedal doesn't have a bolt THROUGH it — it has a bolt UNDER it that the pedal rests on. This means if you put any pressure on the ball of your foot, the pedal flips/rotates away from you rather than staying seated securely. You shouldn't really be putting pressure on the balls of your feet while rowing anyway, but you definitely have to be cognizant of this while using this equipment or the pedals will continually be moving as you're pulling.OVERALL: I'm very pleased with this purchase. Considering the price and function, I would absolutely recommend this product.

Overall a great machine except a minor design issue
Overall it is a great buy. easy to assemble, quite. I do, however have an issue with the plastic cover around the belt. It is 2 half round plastic covers connect by clips. when you rowing, the belt move up and down and pressure the cover to open. Once opened, the clips are also broken because they are plastics. The customer service did an excellent job send a replacement by UPS. Unfortunately, after several weeks of use it broke again. It does not affect use of the machine so I am not sure if I want bother CS again for another replacement. But I do believe it is a design issue.
