I had a few cassettes from 1975 that were interviews from older family members and I was able to use this device to store them digitally and make CDs for relatives. It's really easy, as long as you read the instructions.It comes with Audacity software, which is used to copy the contents of the cassettes to MP3 format (or another of your choosing). Once you have it set up, you just need to start the tape at the beginning, hit record, and let the entire tape play through. Then, you flip the tape over and do the same thing. I muted the audio through windows, so I could do other things (play video games) while it was doing its thing.I created 2 MP3 files per cassette (you need to copy everything, and then export the recording into an MP3). Once that was done, I burned them to CDs using Windows Media Player. I then verified that the recordings were on the CDs and that was it.The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the rewind button doesn't work on the device.
