I'm in mourning. After nearly 5 years of loyal and faithful service, my Bosch is finally showing its age. It's still working, bless its heart, but there's a small leak of water at the base when I lift it off, and that is the usual prelude to gradual decline. Although, nothing has been usual about this kettle. I'd been used to kettles lasting one year, maybe two if lucky, and I thought I'd struck gold when I found the Braun AquaExpress which I think lasted three years. When I came back to Amazon to order another, I found it wasn't available anymore, so I took a punt on its Saxon-sounding cousin in Bosch, and I'm so pleased that I did!We're a household of tea and coffee fanatics and more besides, so the kettle has led a dog's life of abject drudgery. It's been boiled at least 25 times a day. Never once complained or threw an electrical wobbly in any way. Yes, it's big and clunky and probably rather ugly if you're into svelte curves, but it's no-nonsense, it has clean lines, and it's not too heavy to hold at all. It's a reliable, neat pourer and doesn't drip. It fills very easily and the filter has never clogged. It's been a real trooper and the brand has earned my life-long loyalty. If you think that's over the top hyperbole, then I'd respectfully suggest you don't fully grasp the level of our tea addiction.I bought a replacement a couple of years ago (wasn't going to be left in the same AquaExpress predicament!) but I'm back to buy a replacement for the replacement now, and delighted to see that this model is still available.Think I'll get two. You can never have too much of a reliable good thing. Look no further if you're pondering a purchase - this is The One.

Within recent months, this is the third kettle used. With the first, the plastic portion of its switch fractured and could no longer be used, the handle on the second alarmingly loosened with a few weeks of use and was also the most expensive of any previously purchased by almost £15.This is plastic-bodied with a moulded-in handle so there is nothing to loosen. Empty, it is very light and appears not to be any heavier when half-full. It is also quite stubby without being unduly wide and still holds the common 1.7 litres of water. Its power cord is longer than on some models but still well under 1m in length; if there is an excess, it can be wound into a storage area in the base and reduces the length by about half. Boiling time is similar to many others and far less noisy than some - this is common with plastic kettles. There is an internal removable filter to trap any particles of limescale that will develop in our very hard London water and, although easy to remove, it can be fiddly to replace (TIP - engage the bottom lip first).The spout is unusually large and of a circular profile which is useful if used for filling and also when pouring. Filling is fastest if you open the lid and fill through that rather than through the spout and filter; a lid release is conveniently fitted near to the top of the handle. There are two opposing see-through side panels with level markings in both cups and litres and they are easy to read and unconfusing. When 'on', the switch body is brightly illuminated in red but the interior is not illuminated as it is with some models.In use, there is no chance of being scalded by the steam from a just boiled kettle as the spout is far away from the handle and any rising steam will never be near to the hand holding the kettle as can happen with a top-mounted handle.In terms of price, it isn't one of the 'cheap' brands nor one of the excessively expensive but Bosch is a respected German brand of many houseware items. It is functional, well-balanced and moderately attractive and there are no 'flashy' design additions to bolster the price.

This seemed to be the best reviewed kettle on Amazon. And as far as kettles go, it's justified. Other kettles I researched seem to have problems with plastic water taste, bad lid design, noise issues, etc.This kettle has a good design, well engineered. Positive precise action from the lid and base connector. It is very fast to boil a cuppa tea, in 1:05mins. I thought of buying an instant hot cup kettle but this is as good. And less noise.There is a measurement window either side, can be seen through and is easy to read. Red switch lights up when switched on. The element is hidden under a metal plate, but if you want scale-free, nice tasting water, I strongly recommend using filtered water, as I do, with a cheap Brita fliter jug for all my boiled and drinking water.Update July - I did buy a black one too, as my mate needed a new kettle and I recommended that one. But as it happens, the black one is actually not as nice looking as the cream one. It looks cheaper, as it's plastic. For some reason the cream one doesn't look as cheap and shiny as the black. Maybe it's the cream and grey combination, seems to work better.I'm taking away one star because I decided on the cream kettle, which came with a black power lead. I would have preferred a white lead. Just looks so out of place. I'd have expected Bosch to think of these little visual details. You can coil the lead under the base to hide most of it though. I have always expected a 'white good' to come with a white power lead. Also, according to my electricity monitor, it's not a 3kW kettle, more about 2.3kW. But all in all, it's a good kettle. But should have gone for the black one in hindsight.

Schade, dass der Stecker für das Deutsche Netz ungeeignet ist. Das sollte in die Warenbeschreibung stehen. Sonst, sieht der Wasserkocher gut aus.

Vorsicht, nur wenn man Adapter hat, kann der Wasserkocher nutzen. Leider mein Adapter ist beim ersten Versuch kaputt gegangen. Adapter habe ich schon mehrmals benutzt. Jetzt habe ich kein Wasserkocher mehr und kein Adapter, ich bin sehr verärgert und ich bin mir sicher es lag an Wasserkocher!

Kunststoff oder doppelwandig - an Metall- und Glaswänden verbrennt Mensch (Kind!) sich deutlich schneller.C) Gute Amazon Bewertungen haben.Leider ist das auf Amazon.de (und in einschlägigen Elektronikmärkten) schwierig. Derzeit scheinen einwandige 3000 Watt Wasserkocher aus Edelstahl sehr beliebt. Der Braun WK 500 aus Kunststoff hat erstaunlich viele schlechte Bewertungen was die Haltbarkeit angeht. Ähnlich der Grundig WK 5260 mit Wasserstandsanzeige unterm Griff. Dann gibt noch einen Wasserkocher für 135,- Euro. Nett, aber doch ein wenig zu viel Geld für heißes Wasser.Glücklicherweise gibt es ein Land, in dem noch mehr Menschen Wert auf heißes Wasser legen als bei uns: Das Land des Five O'Clock Tea! Amazon.co.uk hat eine deutlich größere Auswahl an 3000 Watt Wasserkochern, auch scheint der Wunsch nach Edelstahl dort weniger ausgeprägt.Nach etwas suchen und vergleichen welcher sehr gut bewertete Wasserkocher von Amazon.co.uk auch bei Amazon.de verfügbar ist, ist es dann der Bosch TWK7603GB geworden. Wie das GB am Ende verrät, ist das Modell für Großbritannien. Daher auch der UK Stecker.
