What is the difference between rs4000 and rs2500?

Really, not all that much. The RS4000 has better blade tension adjustment, a rubber grip on the lower handle and, apparently the blade as well as the anvil is replaceable. After sales service from Wolf-Garten is excellent should you need it. RS4000 are my favourite secateurs and I have several other pairs.

what thickness of shrub do these cut

Has anyone tried to contact wolf garten. i have bought a new pair of rs4000 anvil secateurs to replace a broken pair. the internal spring has snapped

I had the same problem within the guarantee period. I contacted Wolf Garten UK. They asked for the invoice, a picture and sent me a new pair.

Are the Anvil better for repeatedly cutting up long bamboo stems or would Bypass be better please?

I don't know for sure, because I don't have any bamboo in the garden. However, I bought both types. I bought the bypass type for routine small soft stem cutting and the anvil type for larger, harder old wood. Wolf advertise the anvil secateurs as being more suitable for hard wood. I bought the larger one for that very purpose. So, I would imagine that the anvil type would be better for bamboo, which I think is hard and "stringy". Hope this helps.
