Roylco Tessellations Animal Templates, Assorted Designs, Pack of 12

I like the size and durability of the templates. We had a great time with them. Our 8 year old granddaughter figured out how to do each one even the reportedly difficult kangaroo. These are a terrific investment. I strongly recommend them to anyone interested in tesselations.

Tessellations are a hard concept for younger students to grasp, but with these templates they can be creative and get introduced to the concept too. Not too small, sturdy plastic, lots of different designs to choose from.

Nice set of templates. I am ordering a second set so each student can use one. I started out letting them make their own template by tracing these. That did not work too well. The color and the die-cut details help with the tessellation process so I think the really need to use the original. BE WARNED. There are no instructions and very few pictures. There is a whole column describing reptiles, mammals, etc. Who needs that?? A teacher could include that information if needed. What we NEED are examples and instructions! I found some completed drawings online - dog and reptile mostly. BE WARNED AGAIN - the Kangaroo is almost impossible and the Spider only interlocks in one direction. These really should be marked for difficulty. I teach HS and no one got the Kangaroo to come out correctly. Still, these are a great tool for learning the concept. I would like to see another set with different animals or objects.

They came in a timely fashion and were as good as the ones that I had borrowed from a friend.

These are thicker than I anticipated so they appear durable. It's a good product to pratice dexterity with and art project after tracing can be finished in a myriad of ways.

I used these in my classroom for years to teach students (3rd through 5th grade Art) about Tessellations and how they transfer, rotate, and reflect. After using them, I was able to teach 5th - 8th grade to make their own pattern pieces that would tessellate. So I bought a set for a very precocious 7 year old's birthday present. Great product. My photo shows student designed tessellations after using these stencils.

These are wonderful; great quality for a good price. We will use these for an interdisciplinary Art/Math/Language lesson, combining these and M.C. Escher illustrations!! :D

I bought them to use for rug hooking but have found them great to use just for animal shapes as well.Good quality.

I bought these for my students to explore tessellation. We had lots of fun playing with them and they inspired students to want to design their own. It was a great way to introduce the concept and generated lots of discussion and learning. We definitely recommend them.
