TDS Patea TDS-EZ Water TDS Tester, 0-9990 ppm Measurement Range , 1 ppm Resolution, +/- 2% Readout Accuracy  Neat little gadget that tells you the Total Dissolved Solute (hence TDS in the name). What they don't tell you though is what are the solute(s) and their corresponding contribution to the total. This explains why I have given this 4 star, not five. Having said that, it's small, portable and easy to use. It is useful to get a gross estimate of the quality of water, eg in an aquarium or if you are travelling where the water quality is questionable. As a reference pure distilled water should read zero and tap water will vary depending on where you live.

We are in a poor water area for hard water and have switched to water filters where we can. I wanted to get one of these to test how good the water filters were doing with reducing the PPM.The tester comes in a nice little pouch and is very simple to use, by just switching on and dipping into the water to be tested, after a couple of seconds you’ll get your reading which shows clearly on the display.I think this is a great little tester and helps give you the confidence your filters are doing the right job and give you an interesting insight into the water you are drinking as such I’m giving it 4 stars.I got this item discounted for the chance to review and have based my review on the point-of-sale price which I think is just about worth it for this type of item.
