ABOUT TIME TOO!! - I was a bit dubious about getting this but at the price it was going for I thought why not? I am so glad that I did buy this game. Easy to pick up, not at all tricky to control and once you have your setting sorted it is a joy to play. The clue is in the title, this is TEST MATCH CRICKET initially and you have to persevere and be patient to get wickets, score runs etc. Making fielding changes is easy and can be done with the click of a button or you can customise to suit yourself. Batting is good also. You are not going to hit every ball to the boundary. You need to tire the bowler out, build confidence and take your time. There are also the limited overs and T20 versions of the game on this Ashes tour but I have not got that far yet, still on 2nd Test. You can also create your own tours etc. Only England and Australia are licenced in the game but the community downloads available are brilliant. I have all of the test nations (real names/likenesses), stadiums and umpires. The options to expand are limitless. If you like cricket (or just relaxing with a game that you don't have to rush) you must get this, especially at the current price!! Review: Great game for cricket lovers! We are finally getting some where! - This review is not about the delivery or package contents. Which was also 5 star and delivered on time! I want to write the rest of this for anyone buying the game to give them a small insight in what to expect. This game is what Fifa 2004 was to the Fifa series, a great base to follow up games! Big Ant have done a lot of great work to get this far. Lets look through the bad points of the game then the good and then some features we would like to see! Bad points - On boarding process must be improved, I got no manual with the game no way of knowing how to play! - Commentary in game is boring and not realistic. Must have more variety - Watching a cricket game on TV could be copied slightly more into the game. - More licensed teams Good points and there are many - No in game purchases! Its such a relief to have this thank you! - Many game modes, you can't easily get bored of the game - Career mode has world cups now that you can represent your country - The online community is brilliant to come up with team jerseys, logo's, players and bats! You can easily download all this for free! - The game play is so spot on at times its hard to believe! Absolutely brilliant work! - The controls are spot on - The difficulty level is so easily set. So many different settings you can customise your own difficulty easily! - The little twitches a batsman has before facing a delivery. Awesome! so realistic! Small updates for next version - Keep the controls this is a great base! But have an on boarding process to help you get used to it - Maybe the career mode has better player gens - Maybe the ability to select a team you want to play as in a tournament, like you can select a host - Maybe a career mode as a coach like in Fifa? - Commentary! please! Great game for any cricket fan! We are finally getting some where! Enjoy

Same old with all cricket games
Given the positive reviews for this game I decided to buy. The joy of playing Brian Lara cricket as a kid is difficult to forget. The news of a new cricket game rekindles the hope to relive those memories. That game went on to be platinum on the PS1 showing the great potential of a good cricket game. Now, Ashes Cricket 2017. Reading the back of the cover of the game there is a typo. Not a good start. Into the game... you can see where it is heading. The game menus, how difficult could it be to make options user friendly or visually appealing? Nope, looks like something from 2003. The game play is the same old, AI is stupid, commentary is stupid, batting bowling fielding is not fun, the umpires look stupid and the bugs are as prevalent as ever.. Big Ant, I have a question to ask... What pride do you get for putting out this trash of a game? I guess because no one makes Cricket games its fine. One plus though, the graphics are not bad... Overall, avoid. Brian Lara cricket is still untouchable..avoid.

could be so much better
A strange series. For all the improvements Big Ant make on the physics they take steps back with the design, bugs, interface etc. The physics are better but still not there yet. I find the new batting style to make the game too easy as the the targeting radar is too accurate (easy to thread drives through the field). It's nice that the old system is there as an option. I don't bowl often but have been happy with the controls and physics here. Problems: Newly downloaded teams don;t affect your current/ongoing career. Wasted hours in a Career to get to county level to find the teams are wrong despite downloading them. I started again with very low difficulty setting to progress quickly and got through to my team, which had half and half county and random players in it. I don;t want players from my regional team to be selected in place of county pros who I follow every year. The graphics are poor and some of the random stadium designs are hilariously awful (weird mountains and hill, floating spectators) Frame rate drops randomly making batting a nightmare. Screen tearing and frame rate drops in 2 player coop. Simulating is nonsense. I want to bat but teams often score insanely high scores, with numbers 9, 10 and 11 consistently getting 50/100 run partnerships to ruin any sense of realism. Alongside this is simulated run rates being at 4.5/5 rpo in tests/FC meaning the time pressure is rarely and issue. Batsman is randomly bald. Not sure why. WHY DOES THIS GAME TAKE SO LONG TO LOAD? Back foot shots are still terrible. And much much more

Don't even consider buying this.
After about 6 hours of playing career, it came up with "Career data is corrupted and cannot be loaded", thinking this was a one off glitch I foolishly restart the career mode and 3-4 hours later, the same issue. Even without these issues, this game is 3/5 at best, the graphics are PS2 quality and the commentators sound like they are in pain with some of their lines.

Very playable and intuitive with only minor issues
Being a very keen cricket fan and with precious little else as competition out there this game is very playable. It isn't perfect by any means. The commentary is still using lines from the old Brian Lara cricket but you can mute that if necessary. The career mode is very good and the different complexity means it has plenty of life in it. The controls are better than DB14 but if you prefer the older controls they are still available. It certainly wouldn't stack up against FIFA but considering the fact it is probably made on a shoestring budget compared to FIFA it does an excellent job. It's good fun and I'd recommend it.

Best Cricket game i have played in years
Well i have to say this game has got me hooked over the years i been slightly dissapointed with cricket games its the controls i found in the past can be fiddly but after going through the tutorial on ths game learning the controls i absolutely love this game i like the fact you can shout out to dismiss the batsman atleast appeal to the umpire and if you feel the umpire has made a wrong decision you can challenge and make that appeal the interface is very easy to navigate with tbe ability to play online against other humans its all customisable to your ability the graphics and commentry is realistic overall i am very pleased with the effort that has gone into this title for me its 9/10

The Beautiful Game!
An authentic game but commentary not too convincing and too abrupt. The game play is very intuitive and challenging but very satisfying and rewarding when you begin to dominate the Bowlers. I have scored centuries already with Moheen Ali, Overton and Joe Root so far. My highest team total playing for England in the 1st Ashes Test was 516/9 dec which I won by 300+ runs The career mode is also excellent if you know how to manage your star player. Creating my own from scratch was more fun and truly an amazing experience. Few tweaks here and there to improve this game would hit 5 stars. Still work in progress but a wonderful game by the Big Ant Boys. The bowling, batting and fielding controls are much better compared to the other cricket games I've played. Once you're in an settled you get hooked. Love the Ashes Series and T20 Aussie BBL, IPL and also past historical Teams with the Legendary players of the past. Super graphics and player likeness. If you love cricket, then this is a great game to own and enjoy. Very realistic in Ashes Test mode and T20/ODI formats.

Howzat!
This is a solid game that I enjoy playing and I'm really glad I could find it in the US. For those that enjoy cricket, you can't go wrong. The graphics are good - not on a par with the near-realism of Madden or Fifa, but good enough. The only downside is that the commentary is very poor and repetitive, but that's really the only problem I have.

A great game for the price
Worth the price, I'm not a big fan of the game controls for both batting and bowling, I prefer the older controls from Don Bradman from the same makers. Bowling on this is easy enough, batting though, I found harder especially in the match compared to batting in the practice nets......a good game over all worth โฌ25
