HEAT OF A THOUSAND SUNS!
Half star for the fact that it actually worked (at first).Half star for the pretty, blue light indicator showing that it's receiving power. And that's me being generous.Upon opening the package, I could immediately tell this was a poorly (cheaply...) made product. The metal clasp that connects to the metal adapter on the side of the Surface was crappy, and had to be wiggled around to get it into place. And yet, it somehow still managed to fall out at the lightest touch. And the cord is too short. But it gets better! The connection (on the Surface) turns into the heat of a Thousand Suns after being plugged in for MAYBE 5 minutes (usually sooner). Wearing shorts, while watching some Netflix on your Surface Pro that's resting in your lap? Ha! Forget about it, unless you want a 3nd degree burn on your leg. With pants on, you'11 still manage a 1st degree burn.... This intense heat happened regardless of what outlet I had the charger plugged into, but as a poor college student, I had no choice but to stick with this charger...Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the sparks! This sucker gives you your very own firework show when you start using it. Yay!! I find it pretty absurd that one of the positive reviewers simply lists the sparking as a "con". Umm... that's a freaking fire hazard. Your computers shouldn't spark when you're trying to charge them.Well, I'm pretty sure the death heat was the power cord's way of committing suicide. The metal ridges on the charger? Singed and burned. Like, they burned... I could smell the burn. BURN. Yeah, that's safe. Took it out and could almost hear the metal clasp weeping in pain, desperately clinging on to it's last charge... Ugh. Oh yeah, and that same positive reviewer also mentions that the charger reaches 110F (and... it's just a "con").Dude, this thing is a fire hazard and will seriously melt your face off. Or, at the very least, destroy your $1000+ investment. DON'T DO IT.Today, I went to the Microsoft Store and purchased the charger that actually comes with Pro. $80. That's what I get for losing the charger to begin with.So yeah, buy this product if you're freaking desperate, or crazy. Or want to ruin someone else's Pro. Otherwise, just go buy the Microsoft Charger. You'll wish you had. Anyone giving it a positive rating must have JUST started using it (so they haven't had to deal with the many problems yet), or they have just been lucky. Like, freakishly lucky.I consider myself lucky that the only damage was to the charger and NOT to my Pro.Gonna take a chance?

Good Price, Keeps Surface Pro Charged... slight insert issue
This is a great price compared to the Microsoft power supply. I use my Surface pro in multiple locations with wireless keyboards and mouse and an external monitor so that I can do normal work, and also use it when travelling. So I reduce the weight of what I have to carry around by having separate power supplies permanently at each desk.Differences between standard power supply and this one:-no indicator light on the tip that connects to the laptop which indicates when it is supplying power.-occasionally sparks when the tip is getting plugged in... not an issue with the microsoft one. (Hasn't damaged surface pro as yet... so might just be scary rather than an actual problem).Since it works and is so inexpensive - 4 stars. Would have given it 2 or 3 if not for the extremely low price.

It's a Bargain, But Has Some Nits
At less than 25% of the price for the Microsoft charger, this unit is a steal. However, before you buy it, be aware of the following:- it doesn't have a USB port for charging.- It runs hot. I'm guessing it is up to 110F when I use it to power my Surface while viewing a movie.- It sparks. This is extremely startling - once it happens, you'll know to be careful when attaching it to the charging port.I've been using one for a year, and just bought two more for my office and home office. I'll swear by them, even when some of my fellow purchasers swear at them.

A little dissapointing
This charger worked - at first - and on the plus side was inexpensive. It doesn't have a led light to let the user know if it is actually working, but I guess that is why it is so inexpensive.Unfortunately, after only a few weeks, it has stopped working. I am not really a fan of the magnetic charging receptacle and plug that Microsoft designed. I suppose that I can blame microsoft's poor design on the failure as much as the manufacturer of this charger. Both the original and this replacement charger got overheated and slightly melted right at the connection point before failure. Now I need to buy another replacement charger and I am not sure which manufacturer I can trust to supply the most reliable.

Gets the job done.
Not as good as the genuine thing, but for the price, it does what it is supposed to do.Does not have the white indicator light on it, and does not have the additional usb port... it also doesn't charge as quickly as the genuine one. All of that said, it is still a good product.

Pretty close to the real thing
The only thing i have noticed that is different than the OEM charger is that this one does not have an LED on the tip of the part that makes contact with the tablet to indicate it is correctly connected and on. Other than that, it is a much cheaper alternative to the OEM charger.

Causes Issues
Well, this charger will keep my surface pro 1 powered, but there are often times unexpected or erratic behaviors when using it. Screen touches will go crazily in and out (and yes, everything works flawlessly with MS adapters, or with battery power). Also : My system will lose contact with the MicroSD card rather consistently (and again, never once when plugged in to MS Power supply, or running on battery). It might work to charge your device in a pinch, but avoid this if at all possible.

Not OEM quality
This charger is not of the same quality as OEM. No indicator light to know that your connection is good, and it does not hold in the connected position as well as OEM. It does work, charges great, and the price is right.
