This Greenstar Touch n Hold Smooth Door Closer is exactly what I needed for my screen door. It installs easily and feels solid without being bulky. I priced this exact same door closer at local big box store at $28 + tax. I'm so glad I found this. I had it installed in less than 2 mins and so far it works flawlessly. I was able to use same 26-year-old hardware already in and on door frame so all i had to do was take 2 pins out, pop old one off, pop new one on, put the 2 pins back in and viola!! Installation was a breeze. Highly recommend!!

This review is only after 1 day so I can’t speak to longevity. I had 2 closers on my storm door but it was choppy to open and the door would close super fast for the first 3/4 of the way closing before it would abruptly stop, bounce a bit, then finally close. It would constantly crush our ankles and almost knock my kids over. I bought this and it is night and day different. It almost fit perfectly with the previous closers but I only needed to drill 2 holes. Super quick and easy to install. The first time I closed my door tho it was way too fast and slammed shut. A small adjustment to the speed setting (which does not need a screwdriver like my previous closers) and the door is very smooth to close. It absolutely does NOT slam shut or go super fast for 3/4 of the door closing. It shuts at a very steady and slow pace for 98% of the way. Also a very nice plus is the one touch lock feature. So much easier than the finicky pieces on my previous closers. If you are dealing with an “aggressive” closer on your current storm door, then this will fix it.

Don’t waste your money buying any other door closer, this thing is awesome!!! (Unless you don’t mind your door slamming at the end of the pull?) the button to lock the door is another great addition, no more trying to slide the little lock on the rod. Just open the door and push the button. Then to close it, you just push the door open slightly and it automatically unlock’s itself. The adjustment screw is doable with your fingers, and adjusts quite easily. I have only 1 single complaint about my purchase, and that is that I wish I had bought this sooner as I have wasted probably more than triple on the cheap crappy ones from the Home stores at $15/ea. Those ones had to be replaced yearly, and no matter how much time I wasted trying to keep those from slamming, (I HATE door slamming!!) I could never get them to work properly. If I have any issues, I will edit this. Otherwise, just buy it, you won’t regret it. Also it does fit into existing brackets, so you don’t necessarily need to change them if you don’t want to. Replaced my front door closer, bent when the wind caught the door. The touch and hold feature is great when I bring groceries in. I can hold it open and close it easily when I'm done. Smooth, easy installation.

Original mechanism wasn’t working and my screen door would slowly close instead of staying pipped open when needed. This is the same looking exact fit as original. Or is it? Seems to be the same. Fits in same holes on bottom of door and everything. Only thing is, when we prop door open, it doesn’t allow for full open, there’s a small couple inches where it isn’t at 90 degrees like before, it is not a huge deal breaker, but I wish it worked the same way. I’m glad we found one that fit, that didn’t cost a lot. Price was reasonable compared to other brands. But do keep in mind it does NOT give a full 90 prop open, more like “87”.
