Bumble Cotton Dishcloth Set, 16 Pack, 12 X 12 in, 100% Cotton, Dish Towels, Dish Cloth

Soft, absorbent, has "rough" side for scrubbing. Will do the job, but is a major disappearing act! Ok, so they measure 12" X 12" upon receipt. Nice. Washed and dried one time, yes, one time, and now measure 7.5" X 9.75". Let's do the math: "New" dimensions are 12" X 12" = 144 sq. inches. "Washed" measurements are 7.5" X 9.75" = 73.125 sq. inches. Hmmm....that would be just under 50% shrinkage! WOW! Can't wait to wash these again. May not be able to find them after drying. I know cotton items typically shrink when washed and dried, but this is rather extreme, no? Needless to say, the "new" size (post washing . . .) is going to limit the practical usability. This is not my first "dishcloth" rodeo. Others do not shrink to this degree. Bottom line: not totally what I expected, hence, quite disappointed. Three stars is a generous rating.

What would you think when the care tag says, "100% Cotton, Machine Wash Cold, Do Not Bleach, Iron Low Heat, Dry Clean Only, Dry Flat",Dry Clean Only?? Yeah, sure, with a dish cloth that is going to be used in hot water, rinsed and wrung out hundreds of times - in the first couple of weeks of its life. I did machine wash it cold and I will admit to drying them on the lowest setting in the dryer but, I would not lay these flat to dry. The Amazon description says, "EASY CARE: These kitchen washcloths can be easily Machine washed in cold water and dried. Waffle design weave is sturdy and long-lasting, dish towl stays durable for many washes". (Misspelling of towel is theirs - not mine.) So, it sounds from the Amazon description that I have done absolutely nothing wrong. Why do these 12x12 cloths measure only 9 1/2 x 10 now? These are really nice - I expected them to be a thin, cheap little thing but they're good size for a washcloth and very high quality. I wanted to move away from a sponge and these are just lovely. They soak up liquids no problem and they have a nice texture that won't scratch but helps with scrubbing.

These looked lovely for their first use, but with the first wash they totally changed shape and form. These are surprisingly functional dish towels, but they look a bit ridiculous after you wash them.

Don't waste your money. Shrink by half. Who doesn't put their towels in the dryer? Not these. Dry flat or dry clean? Really?????
