When it comes to older consoles there are all sorts of ways to retrofit them for modern flat panel displays. These Wii adapters have been around for a while and they all look the same and somewhat perform the same. Where they differ is quality of hardware. Portholic has been around for a while and they are the ones that I trust the most. Setup is simple. You just plug it into the back. Boot it up. Set it to 480p and widescreen and that's it. It cleans up the image alot with no hassle. These also have a pretty long life span. I have used 6 of these throughout the years and given them as gifts and out of those 6, 5 are still functional multiple years later. That's not something that you see too often. Aside from that there's nothing else to say. They work, they're high quality. That's about it.

The video output is definitely clearer than the included cables with the console! Pretty happy with how well it works, no extra cables you just plug it into the console and the tv.

Works so far so good. Kids destroyed old TV with av connections, this was the only alternative for my retro setup. Now it can connect to hdmi, pretty great display quality aswell. Cleaner than before. Wii being used more than the switch 2 right now lol.

This thing rocks! I bought an adapter that hooked onto the old Wii connector but my TV didn’t recognize it. I took this out of the box, attached the included hdmi cord to it and my Wii and then plugged it into my TV. The TV instantly recognized it and I was able to play Mario cart on my new TV no issues. This automatically set it to wide screen and I went into settings and turned it to 480P for HD but who knows if that matters. Part of the Wiis charm is the old school graphics. I was able to win my race and I couldn’t be happier. If you have read reviews for this thing I can tell you it works and works well!
