Christian Prayer Leather Zipper Case

The zipper closes from bottom to top, not sure why this design since right away all the ribbons used for bookmarks will get caught in it and get ruined. So I turn the cover upside down so that the zipper starts from the top and I can stop before the riibons get caught. This defeats the purpose of the design being in front. Knowing this I may not have purchased and looked for another option.Also, in the picture it looks like the material is much smoother, but it is not.

This thing seems to hate Christian Prayer, and is bent on destroying it.The reviews are mostly right. Its cheap, ugly vinyl (plastic) textured to look like leather. Its inside is covered in maroon velvety cloth to protect the OTHER cheap vinyl cover on the Christian Prayer book itself. It oozes the 70's. If Hugh Hefner were a Catholic, he'd have loved this.As other reviews have mentioned, the fit on this cover is so tight, you feel like you're gonna tear the book up shoving it in there! And with the tight fit, you feel like you're gonna tear it up every time you open and close the thing, too. And if that's not worrisome enough, the zipper is backwards, and wants to catch all your ribbons every time you close it, AND the tight fit ensures you're gonna stab the zipper into the spine every time you open it up! I'm telling you, it hates your little breviary with a vengeance! My poor Christian Prayer book already has several new creases on it from sticking it in this aggravating thing! So, heads up, be very careful.This is the only cover I've found that fits Christian Prayer, so if you need a cover, this is it. And it works. But be prepared for a headache. I'd go with Catholic Book Publishing Company's zippered cover edition of Christian Prayer if I could do it all over again, or the Daughters of St Paul edition, if you can find one.This is sad. I'm so sick of cheaply made Catholic books. The 70's era of the one true church lives on in this hideous maroon piece of plastic. Perfect for strumming some Gordon Lightfoot inspired, gender-inclusive language riddled renditions of our Lord's holy Psalms.But I digress. Avoid this.

This leather, zippered case is the perfect compliment to my copy of "Christian Prayer", providing both protection as well as a deluxe look & feel.Upon removing the case from its wrapper, the rich aroma of leather was the first thing to delight the senses. While not the finest grade of leather, it is well-crafted.Opening the nylon zipper, one finds a plush-lined, burgundy coloured interior, with leather flaps in which to slide one's copy of "Christian Prayer".Although the case adds a bit of size/bulk to the book, it's well-worth the trade off. Just holding the case-bound book encourages one to open the volume and engage in the beautiful prayer-of-the-Church.This case, is certainly is befitting the book for which it was made: aka as "The Divine Office".I'm particularly pleased that I no longer need to worry about papers, booklets, and Holy cards falling out. I really like the cover, but quality control meeds to be better. The zipper is installed upside down, which leaves the ribbons pointing up instead of down and the cross is supposed to be on the upper front and not the lower back

This is a hard plastic cover, not the leather mentioned in the write-up. The zipper is hard to maneuver. I would not recommend this product if you plan to use it when praying Liturgy of the Hours. If you plan to use it as a hard-shell protective case, then it will suffice.

This cover is good and sturdy. It fits my Breviary well. I agree with other reviews about the zipper. It's on the bottom, so the ribbons will get stuck in it if not tucked in.

But if you're really careful getting the book in--and this cover is for the regular size Christian Prayer, not the large print--you can avoid creasing or tearing the book's cover. After that, it's perfect! Looks great, the zipper protects against liquid spills or dirt, and you can put some prayer cards inside, and they won't easily fall out. Money well spent preserving a book as important for a Catholic as Christian Prayer.

The zipper leather case for my prayer book was a great product and fit the prayer book nicely.

I purchased this zip case for my copy of Christian Prayer.I was hesitant at first, because of the reviews that indicate the case is too small for its intended book. That has not been my experience. The book fits just fine, as long as you do not try to insert the cover of the book into the pockets on the inside of the zip case. Doing so will stress the book's binding. It doesn't matter, though, because the case's shape holds the book cover fairly well.What I find objectionable is the stunningly poor quality of the zip case. Contrary to what's indicated in the listing, the case is not made of leather. It's made of a cheap, shiny vinyl straight out of the 1970s. It's hard and stiff, and liable to crack in the cold. The inside of the case has a faux suede reminiscent of the same era, where the weave of the underlying fabric is clearly visible.The cover of the Christian Prayer book is bonded leather - itself not of the highest quality - yet this case is entirely unworthy of the book. I will be shocked if this cover lasts more than one year without developing splits and cracks, or the stitching coming apart.I strongly recommend against buying. Look for any alternative; this is not worth buying at any price.

I really like the material that this case is made of. It seems very sturdy. I have the one-volume Christian prayer and it fits perfectly in this case, but only if I slip the back cover in the back pocket; I would not recommend putting the front cover in the case's front pocket because you will have to crack the book's binding in order to be able to read it since the case is very stiff.

Well. I ordered this for the regular Christian Prayer book. Very nicely made, and good quality. Very tight fit for the book. difficult to close and zip the cover shut. If the book is slipped into cover, when it is opened it will not lay flat. will use it to carry it around, but will not be able to use it as it is advertised. Overall, I wish I had never purchased it.

Based on other reviews I was not sure this item would work. Some complained it was too small and cheap. I am pleased to say that it fits the "christian prayer" book perfectly. Fits great. Looks great. Very happy I did not listen to other reviews.

The cover fits perfectly on my Christian Prayer book. I can tell it's made of that plastic material made to look like leather, but it looks like it will last. Interior is soft, almost velvety. Outer cover of the book is held in by pockets on the side made of the same material as the outside, it fits well.
