An OK read.
As a runner I was looking forward to this read. The writing style turned me off. I made it through but the need for good editing took away from the story.

Decent story line
It kept my attention, but I felt like the writing was inexperienced and not smooth. It was rough in places just like a technical trail run except that a rough trail run is fun and reading a rough book is not.

When love is ripped away from you
When you open the book and begin to read you're immediately hooked. Every emotion you can think of will creep up on you and all you'll think is " WOW" from beginning to end. When love is ripped away from you, living life to running 100 miles for the first time, all is possible. All can be achieved. Great story. Tragic twist. Great ending. Thank you Brian for sharing a little bit of your life with us. Keep inspiring us!

It was impossible to get past all the spelling and grammar mistakes!
Right from the start (or the back cover) it's clear that this book is riddled with poor grammar, spelling mistakes, and a complete disregard for how to properly use a comma. These unfortunate features can be found throughout the book and made it darn near impossible to read. The story was okay, but I simply couldn't get past the poor writing and editing. If this sort of thing matters to you, definitely do not purchase or read this book.

I bought this book and before I could start it my wife picked it up and read it. She laughed and cried and told me it was her favorite. I then read it and totally agree with her. We are both runners. I run marathons and she completed her first half marathon right after finishing the book. It was very inspiring and well written. The story of Brian and the loss he faced and how he overcame it touched home with both of us. I would recommend this book to anyone, Runner or non Runner.

The book was well written and inspirational. I loved the story, starting with tragedy, and followed by a personspersonal life journey to find Peace and Love and Romance again. I am an avid runner and am injured at the moment.Reading this renewed my spirit and I will be back on the road soon. Thank you Brian for the book and for the journeyof Brian, Abby and Michele (with 1 L) and not leaving out Hanna!!!Run FreeDale

This Book Is A Great Read!
I am a runner but with that said you DO NOT have to be a runner to enjoy this book! I loved the story when I started reading the book I could not put it down. The love story was great as well as the running story line! I would and have suggested this book to anyone. There is only one other book that has made me cry when reading it, this book did, but also made me feel happy for the people in the story. That's what so great about the book it takes you on an emotional journey! I highly recommend it, you won't be sorry you bought it.

The author's love of running
The author's love of running, the Colorado mountains, the iconic Leadville 100 Trail Run and life shines through. I'm not really much for love stories, but I did find a lump in my throat on more than a few occasions. Good read that gives you a sense for the preparation necessary to complete this difficult race along with the mental strength and emotional support that is such a huge part of any successful effort.

A great read for anyone interested in ultra running
I really enjoyed this book often forgetting it was fiction. I imagine anyone who has, or who wants to run an ultra would get engrossed in the book. I really felt like I knew the characters and was sad when I reached the end!
