It is as pictured and of the volume noted. The black 5lb bag was ideal (a tall 10-gallon vase and a tall 10-gallon rectangle). Given the cost and size of individual pieces, I would probably not use the 5-lb bag in a larger aquarium, but would purchase a large amount.
