Works better than expected. Very accurate and stable
Bought this to replace an ageing set of scales that had a loose "foot" and became unreliable. I researched this model carefully and it seemed that its design wouldn't suffer the same instability of the previous scale.I have to say I'm very impressed. From the all-metal rounded feel, to the nice clear display and the accuracy, this is a very impressive little set of kitchen scales. The scales themselves are designed to weigh much larger pots. The weigh plate on the top protrudes a little higher than the surroundings, so you CAN put on a much larger pot. This is great because the scales themselves are really compact, so they fit into a drawer or cupboard easily. The scales have rounded corners, so they don't snag cables of kitchen appliances while you're cooking, and they slide in and out of cluttered drawers easily. The display is very bright and clear. Very easy to read even in dimmer surroundings, with clear indications of the units and what modes are in operation.Due to the sealed construction, it's pretty easy to clean. Just wipe it down, paying attention to the slight lip at the border or the weigh plate which might catch a little sticky flour or dough. I wouldn't run it under a tap, though, just use a moistened cloth. The main impressive thing about this is its accuracy. Most scales vary a lot in their estimations. Trying to weigh 7g of yeast can yield anywhere from 5g to 10g, vastly changing the consistency of the bread. To get around this you normally need to reset the scales and re-weigh over and over to get an 'average' value. Not so with these. You pour on a professionally weighed sachet of yeast, and the display yields 7g. You pour it off and pour it back on. 7g. every time, 7g. If you use it to weigh envelopes or parcels before mailing, then even heavier weights are consistent and accurate. Take the package off and replace it, you get the exact same value to the gram that you got before. Remarkable! In all, I'd say these are the best kitchen scales we've had. A classic design, excellent accuracy and they look great.

Great, accurate scale
This is my 2nd of this scale, the first one lasted approximately 4 years before it gave up on me. I never realised that Salter offer an 18 year warranty once you register the product. I didn't do that for the first one but will definitely do it this time round. The scale has various units which are easy to change between during use. The battery lasts a long time. We use it a couple of times daily for weighing out dog food portions. The accuracy is great as both dogs have extremely consistent weight. The vet even commented on it.It's small and compact and easy to clean. This silver one looks premium too.

Reliable, quality, value-priced scales
My trusty 8 year old platform scales decided to finally give up the ghost and I needed to find a replacement. Being a lover of Jospeh Jospeh utensils, I thought I would treat myself to Joseph Joseph Tri Scale - White . Whilst they certainly look lovely, feel sturdy and are space-saving, I found them too much of a faff to use every day. I also found that they didn't reliably reset to zero when the touch-button was pressed.Looking for my second replacement, I decided to return to the platform-style design but I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money on something I hadn't been able to see in the flesh. Salter seemed to be a trusty, reliable brand and these scales were a great price at only £10 with Prime delivery. When the box arrived, I was surprised at the size of the scales. Having not taken much note of the measurements< I had assumed that the scales would be much larger. It was a pleasant surprise to find that these are quite slim and don't have an overly large surface area so they fit neatly on my small counter top. Having said that, the measuring plate itself is perfectly-sized and easily big enough to fit everything apart from catering-sized crockery. The scales do not come with their own measuring bowl but any plate, bowl, tupperware or mug will do to measure your foodstuffs. If it is something dry and singular, like an apple, you can just pop it directly onto the scales. It is incredibly easy to add and weigh ingredients as you go along and it switches seamlessly between measurements ie grams to mililitres to ounces.I love the fact there there are only two buttons and that they are physical buttons that respond to touch - instead of the touchscreen-style buttons where you never know if your tap has registered. It switches on fast and quickly sets to zero, so no long waiting times for calibration. I have taken one star off because a few times it has set itself to -1g but it is possible that this is down to user error or a surface not being as perfectly flat as I thought.I am really pleased with these scales and they do seem to be accurate down to really small weights (I measured 2 grams of inulin powder with them and it corresponded to the specific measuring spoon amount exactly). If you need functional, accurate scales that don't come with a dozen differnt specialist functions, then these are really great value for money.

Excellent - Lasted 5 years
Great scale, used frequently and lasted 5 years. Repurchasing now because it was accidentally smashed when moving (my fault)

Great, so convenient
This is so useful. No need to empty scale when you need to weigh another ingredient, just zero the weight and add the next item.
