This morticer is made in England. The English spelling is with a "c" where we use the letter "s" here in America.

Can this handle a strike plate on a 8" wide door jamb

Thank you for your question. The offset mortise adaptor, is an upgrade to the Jig1. The offset mortise adaptor uses the same vertical bar and clamp system and this flexibility allows you to cut hinge recesses and the mortise for the strike plate in door frames less than 95mm thick, which is about 3.74". What is the difference between the souber dbb and pro-lok injig-mort? they look identical.....

My guess is they're variations on the same theme. Go through the two items spec by spec. I can only speak to the item I bought and used.

How thick a door will it accommodate???

The standard package will accommodate a door up to 2 1/4" (57.15 mm). For thicker doors there is a housing kit PSDBB/HK/S that will accommodate a door up to 5 1/2" (139.7 mm). For cutting beams or other items you can use the extra long threaded clamp screws PSDBB/LCS which allows you to mount the jig up to 7 3/4" (200 mm).
