Thief of Kalimar Paperback – Import, 12 August 1979

Thief of Kalimar, a reasonable read but unfortunately I found it to be quite slow in parts. As this was my first novel by Graham Diamond it would not stop me reading another.

Pretty much hits all the standard fantasy themes - the noble thief, the special artefact, the clever dancing girl, the fate of kingdoms. Reasonably well-written, so worth the price.

I had a little difficulty getting into the book but as the story progressed ,it was a good read.

Look, this novel will not change your life or make you think you're looking at a daring paradigm shift in fantasy literature. But it is a solid story and it is very entertaining. I also thought his description of the badd guys was pretty good. I had originally read this back in 1979 when it came out. And to be honest, I didn't remember very much about it. But when I reread it now, quite a few decades later, I think I enjoyed it as much as I did back then.
