I appreciate that each skein is 8m long, not the usual 4m especially since this kit contains 56 skeins which is incredible value for money.Made out of long-staple cotton, these threads are soft and smooth. And, will not degrade over time in contrast to short-staple cotton.Despite the description that the threads are non-divisible, I managed successfully to separate 6 plies thread (floss) into individual strands in order to have a choice of using either thinner or thicker pieces for creating various embroidery effects.The texture from the plies twisting together plays with the light beautifully.Apart from that the threads had been mercerised (chemically treated) and combined with the texture giving the embroidery a subtle gleam.This kit also offers a set of needles that have a special coating making it easier to thread. They are smooth, sturdy and don’t bend.Ten plastic bobbins are always great to have at hand especially when I separate plies to create my own thickness of threads.The enclosed needle threader works well with these kit needles.The seam ripper is the safest type, with the head split into two pieces - a pointy tip and a blunt tip with a ball on top. I find this forked type to be the most effective in reaping seams quickly and easily.

This embroidery kit comes in a small box, unfortunately mine was damaged but luckily nothing was missing.There are loads of different coloured strings included, along with needles. However there is no activity included in the kit to get you started with the craft.I am excited to give it a try, this is not a beginner friendly kit. More like a string fill up once you know the craft.

Embroidery is a relaxing art, but you can get through a lot of thread as you do your fourth design of the weekend. This stash allows you to make it a little more affordable as you get over 65 skeins. That is pretty much enough to cover any design you may be following or creating yourself. If you do run out some of the shades are close enough that you can be a little experimental and no one will know.If you are a beginner or enjoy making mass amounts of designs, this is a great kit for you. You even get some extra needles. For something that you plan as a special gift to someone, a higher end thread may look nicer and smoother.

With a huge range of colours in 65 threads plus a whole load of other embroidery tools, this Smart Dreams Embroidery Thread Kit is an excellent starting point for any project.The kit is nicely laid out and everything is good quality, including a decent pair of needles.
