A Very Beautiful Book.
I have been making clothes for 30 years, and now has come the time to make my daughters wedding dress....I just wanted to have a book that walked me through some of the steps that I use infrequently, and this book is perfect. I know how to add boning to a dress, but this book illustrates and explains it perfectly. The 3 patterns are wonderful, I am using the train off one of the dresses and the bodice off another. I think you have to have some sewing experience to go through this book, some of the termanology used would means its probably not a book for an absolute beginner, but then an absolute beginner would probably not be making a wedding dress anyway?

Waste of money
As a person who is educated as an apparel engineer, and have been working professionally with fashion design and i.e have been teaching pattern cutting for over 20 years, I always like to get new inspiration. This book is a waste of money.First of all, the person using the book has to be extremely experienced as a sewer and also as a pattern cutter. Secondly, some of the recommendations in the book are more or less incorrect, and if followed by an inexperienced person they would produce very bad results. The book does not cover very important things such as the fact that most wedding dresses need underlining to get the right silhouette; especially if they have got a train. The book does also not say the least bit about how to line the dresses. The patterns at the back of the book have very poor fitting, and some of the measurements used for choosing the right size are not standard known measurements, but seem to be some weird measurements made up by the author. Furthermore, the patterns are only available for the top of the dresses. And thinking that a person who may have little experience in pattern cutting should be able to create i.e. a skirt for a full wedding dress with the right proportions is unlikely. The book can at it's best be used for inspiration by experienced sewers, but not for anything else.

A beautiful book that is well written
A beautiful book that is well written, very informative and even has the patterns in the back of the book in a pocket to make the three dresses in the book in various sizes. The illustrations and the instructions are very clear and everything is covered when trying to make your decisions about styles, fabric, embellishing and even veils. It will be definitely taking pride of place on my book shelf along with Couture Sewing techniques by Lynda Maynard. Thanks Becky :)

Can't wait to make a dress
Though I'm returning this one and buying a brand new one to make sure I have all the patterns in the back, this book is very informative and fabulous.

Lots of lovely photos and clear instructions. I am half-way through my first project and feel confident that it will be beautiful enough to terrify any future date who takes a peek into my closet... :)

Nice Book
The book worth more than its price apart from some illustration that is not clear enough to understand. I love it and will recommend it

Brilliant book
Brilliant book for any avid sewer, great illustration and tips. There's also some free patterns in the back which are lovely dresses. I am a experienced sewer but this book is was to understand for novice sewers too.
