## Description

Product Description A Story of Nautical Ingenuity Captain Tolley’s was developed by Peter ‘Tolley’ Jordan, an ex-ship’s captain with 30 years experience at sea. Skippering boats in all conditions he discovered most leaks weren’t caused by large obvious gaps but by small, hard to find hairline cracks. To find these he developed a penetrating sealant – one that would follow the path of the water to seal the leak at its source. Peter launched Captain Tolley’s in 1986, where it was well received by sailors. From Arctic exploration vessels, to ancient sailing yachts, Captain Tolley’s has been responsible for many watertight voyages. Captain Tolley’s is a low viscosity copolymer adhesive with exceptional penetrating properties. Formulated to be as thin as water, it draws into hairline cracks and gaps using capillary action. It penetrates deep, narrow cracks to fill them and make them secure. As an added bonus, it’s non-toxic and sets clear in colour (though when it comes out of the tube, it appears white). For Vehicles Perfect for sealing windows and windscreen surrounds, rivet holes, trim, gullies and skylights. Has been welcomed by vintage and veteran car enthusiasts in particular. For Boats Capt. Tolley was originally invented for boats so it’s no surprise that it excels in this area. Very effective for fixing leaking windows, porthole surrounds, portlights, decks, coach roofs and centreboard casings. Ideal for sealing around stressed items such as deck fittings It’s compatible with wood, rubber, glass, metals, perspex, glass fibre, ceramics, concrete, brickwork and old sealants. For The Home Fix rainwater leaks in flat roofs, masonry and joinery. In the bathroom and kitchen seal sinks, shower trays, worktop joints, inset sink surrounds and such like. Make in situ repairs to veneers, wood joints, leaded windows, ceramics (teapots, bowls etc.) as well as to items exposed to the elements such as outdoor lamps. Also suitable for waterproofing earthenware items. How Do I Use It? Make sure the crack is hairline (i.e. less than 1mm wide) and as dry as possible. If it’s an outdoor repair make sure the conditions are frost, rain-free and temperature is not below 7°C/44.6°F. Apply sparingly from the bottle in 30 minute intervals until the crack is filled. Rapid absorption of the product into a crack indicates a large leak so check the product isn’t flowing through and dripping out the other side! Allow 24 hours for the sealant to fully cure. Check if the leak has been repaired. If needed, apply more sealant to finish. Curing times may vary according to atmospheric conditions. Use a hypodermic syringe for extra-accurate application. Remove any spills with white/methylated spirits.

I like the fact that as a liquid form it's white colour and therefore easy to see but then goes transparent upon drying. What could be better?

I have a small water leak into my Land Rover. I knew where it was coming from seam and it was proving to be a problem. A friend told me about Captain Tolleys years ago. I was pleased to see that it was still available. So, the only thing to decide was whether to go for the small bottle or the big one. I am so glad that I opted to buy the Bigger bottle. Since buying it, I have used it on numerous items for sealing. It's a great product and works well. I like the fact that as a liquid form it's white colour and therefore easy to see but then goes transparent upon drying. What could be better?

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ingenious product, badly designed package

This stuff is brilliant, it's packaged very badly. First the good, if you've got a tiny leak somewhere or a pipe leaking at a thread, drip this stuff in and it's gone, heals small cracks in vessels quickly and easily, it creeps into the cracks that cause the leak and seals them in a few minutes. The negative is how it's packaged, you have to pierce (not cut) the top of the bottle. However, the style of the top lends itself to being cut so we cut it, then had to reseal it by melting it back together, and then putting a pin prick in the top of it again! After opening, the lid doesn't seal it properly (ironically) - even when you open it properly with a pin prick - so if it's not stored vertically it either leaks or seals the lid to itself!
