I used to have to get a knife to prise the seal off! But I think it's been improved now. The seal is perforated now, so twist the whole top until the seal separates, then keep twisting and pull upwards and it comes off. **Q: Being "medicated" - does it have a pleasant smell?** A: I used to swear by Lanacane powder until it disappeared from the market. I would say this is a very good substitute and what smell there is less than Lanancane. As the other respondee has said there really isn't much of a smell at all.
