Phylink cameras are by far the best if you want to monitor your garden or house
Phylink cameras are by far the best if you want to monitor your garden or house. I have 2 of the outdoor ones (IR) and they have performed brilliantly for over a year bow. So when I wanted to install a more covert one to cover an area during the day, I checked out their products. I purchased this one, it arrived on time, with everything you need to install it. I was impressed by the small size of the camera, and the long fly lead, which means the IP unit stays indoors and the camera can be a long way away in a discrete place. So easy to set up, I use a NAS drive rather than the SD card. Set up, as I said, is very simple, the instructions, if you need them? are concise and well put together. The remote monitoring software on my iPhone and iPad means I can log into the cameras and watch them whilst away. The alerts are good to my iPhone, which is great when I am out of the house. The Motion detection has up to for customisable sized windows to cover areas, or block out areas for motion. Also their Customer service is exceptional, they have answered every query I have made with the solution, and even suggestions on making things easier or better. I am not affiliated in anyway with them, but if you want piece of mind and a reliable solution then I cannot recommend Phylink highly enough. Well done to them and all their staff

lovely little camera.
This camera is great.. if you need a small IP camera get this one.. Yes it's a little pricey. Lots of cable between the camera and controller box which connects using an RJ11. Powers up over PoE so just one CAT5 cable. The camera is EASY to setupI did it in a few minutes using Safari on my Mac. Connected straight in to Zoneminder. Loads of configuration options from recording locally onto a micro SD card to streaming or storing elsewhere. As always make sure you go through all the settings and turn off what you don't need, e.g. P2P. Oh and change the default passwords.

There is much to recommend this camera
There is much to recommend this camera, in terms of setting up and picture quality in daylight conditions. However in poor light conditions it failed to meet my requirements.

Not bad, but the image isn't at detailed as other Phylink cameras.
So far this is working fine. I wouldn't buy it again though, because after a lot of messing around with various positions, I ended up placing it looking out of a window from indoors, so the weatherproofing is irrelevant now. The quality of the image is noticeably worse than the cube HD camera, which in retrospect, I would have bought again instead. On the plus side, the wifi connection has remained absolutely stable for two months so far = it has never lost the connection. It produces a good enough image to identify someone from about six feet away so it's quite useful to have it looking at your porch or front garden. You do need to fiddle about with the area it records: you don't want to record everyouitne who passes by or every car that goes past-and beyond about 10 feet it's not that good for identification anyway. Closer images are useful though. It is very small and unobtrusive so if you place it quite high up it's unlikely to be noticed unless someone is specifically looking for a camera . Because it's so small , it's fiddly and quite difficult to adjust the area it looks at, but if you have it broadcasting live and look at the image on a laptop / phone as you adjust it, it's OK. Edit about 18 months after purchase I had an issue with the camera and couldn't understand why it wasn't recording images on alarm. I asked for help from the Phylink technical support and they were EXCELLENT and helped me to resolve the issue by adjusting a setting. They told me that all Phylink cameras have free technical support for life. Edit added November 2018. I have two of these cameras now and use them as security cameras. I understood that the best position for a security camera is at the level of someone's face-that's because it's an image of the criminal's face that is needed to identify them. I have placed both of these cameras indoors, looking out through windows. One at the back of the house is at face level. The advantage of having them indoors is that no-one can easily tamper with or touch them without breaking a window, and by the time a potential their sees the camera, hopefully, it will have recorded their face to the cloud. They have been very reliable. It has to be said that they are of limited use at night, unless you have bright external lighting.

Some good news and some bad
Good - The unit looks good and the small camera has a very long lead and a small plug so only a small hole to drill for it to pass through. The instructions are very good and written in clear English with useful diagrams. It is fairly quick to set up and the technical support via email is quick and good. Bad - Mine stopped working after literally 5 minutes. A remote check by Phylink showed the small camera bit was defective. Despite the offer of a new bit I decided to give up and return it. Awarding stars was difficult but I settled on 3 because of the quick and helpful support. I was probably just unlucky and if you fancy trying one it could be worth a try as it is a fairly unique design and the Amazon return was easy....and support is good.

Software - good. Camera - good. Power to unit - dreadful and risky
Camera seems to be good and software is adequate for the job - spend a bit of time configuring how you want it otherwise you will get an email every time a shadow changes. Unfortunately a key component - the power supply - is very shoddy. It is much cheaper and flimiser than the camera and has a less frequently used connector (ie not USB or similar) It failed after only six days of use (whilst we were on holiday) and hence left us without cover. We requested a replacement part the day we got back, but 7 days after our request we still have no replacement power supply rendering the camera useless. Unfortunately the camera has now been out of action for longer than it was in action for this reason, I cant recommend it unless you buy a solid power supplier from elsewhere when you purchase the camera - which is a shame.

Highly recommended IP camera.
I carried out a significant amount of research before purchasing this camera. My key requirements were that it was an ip camera, very small and neat and that it could record based on motion detection. The camera is now covering the front door to my house. It does not have infrared capability, but copes well with just street lights as illumination. The first camera developed a fault after a couple of days (before I fitted it to its final locations). Support was good and it was quickly agreed that it needed to be replaced. Amazon delivered this the next day. The camera is very easy to set up. Because there is a separate box which contains the brains, and most of the connections. Running the cable (which is just some cat 5e cable) to the actual camera is easy. I added a 128gb micro SD card. I spent some time formatting this on my laptop, but of course the camera has the facility to format a card. The camera is viewable from my home network and also outside of the network. It talks to the router and redirects and opens the appropriate ports. The android app just works and allows viewing from anywhere. I would definitely recommend this if you want a modern, ip camera that is very discrete.
