Review: They work - just follow the instructions. - I installed these 12 months ago and to my amazement they really work. I couldn't justify purchasing another reel of CAT5. (Well I thought I couldn't anyway) And so I needed to splice two pieces together outside and in the middle of a ditch. This is the type of situation I try to avoid if at all possible. But after some research I discovered this product and decided to try it. From the picture you can see that the CAT5 is outdoor grade. But I fished it through some plastic waterline for extra protection. A piece of drain pipe from an old kitchen sink made a decent "joiner" for the water line. The " Waterproof RJ45 Coupler" is safely inside this junction. For some projects you need to get it right the first time. I purchased the 3-pack and ended up using two of them. The second one is above ground hanging in a lean-to. I've experienced no problems with it either. Please be very careful to not over-twist the couplers because there is a silicone seal or o-ring that may squeeze itself out of place. You'll need to familiarize yourself with the product prior to installation. Overall I'd say it was worth the gamble and worthy of my trust. What a great solution!
Review: Used to upgrade botched install - This ethernet coupler is excellent for outdoor use. The previous installers for our outdoor camera system used a cheap indoor rated coupler that failed in under 3 months on our roof. We have since switched it over to these couplers and the system is back up and running again. These were incredibly easy to install as you just need to unscrew both ends and insert the network cable thru. It seals the cable in as you twist the cap. Overall, I would recommend these for outdoor use to make sure your camera system stays up and running!
