Nice box!
I put an Apple Air-port 4TB hard drive in this housing after the Air-port was deemed obsolete. Was an easy install and it works great!

Excellent quality—highly recommend
This is an excellent enclosure. I have purchased many different brands of HDD enclosures over the last 30 years and this is one of the very best. It is sturdy (aluminum, not plastic), easy to mount the drive in, and attractive. They even enclose a screw driver along with the screws needed to attach the drive. It worked perfectly with my old 1TB Seagate HDD and I am getting the expected transfer speed. It comes with a power supply (cable) and a USB 3.0 cable to connect to your computer. Highly recommend.

Basic SATA enclosure with decent heat dissipation; more solid than some costing $10 more
My only use for spinning rust drives these days is bulk cold data storage using server-grade (Enterprise) drives. These are very reliable but get HOT. So when choosing an enclosure, heat dissipation is a major shopping criterion. All-metal with fan is the best; a plastic or metal/plastic enclosure with fan is second, metal with thermal coupling between the drive and the shell is next, metal/plastic with no thermal coupling is the worst. This GODO falls somewhere in the middle categories. The shell is solid aluminum and the drive is mounted on a metal internal frame which, does make at least some contact with the internal frame via the tongue-and-groove arrangement that holds it in place. When assembling, I also add a layer of metal (such as aluminum foil) in between the top cover of the drive and the inside surface of the metal shell, it also reduces the chance of rattle. In the case of this enclosure, that works fine with Seagate EXOS-series data center drives. The "gotcha" with this enclosure is the fit. At least for these drives, the interior fit is so tight that you can easily scrape off the label or even some of the metal of the shell. Be VERY careful about alignment before committing to slide it in. The other part of the "gotcha" is the length. Inside the front plastic cap of this enclosure is a very big foam block which, when reassembled with these drives, is a couple of millimeters too long, making it impossible to screw down without warping the metal frame. The result of doing that is that the frame impinges on the front power switch button, cramming it against the inner shell permanently in the "pushed down" position. Ugh. The solution to this second issue is simple but not immediately obvious. The front plastic cap is also held in by screws whose heads are covered outside by two small plastic wedges on either side. These pieces of plastic come off and on very easily, allowing you to unscrew the front cap and either remove or replace the rubber foam to something slightly more forgiving. Having done that, I proceeded to buy two more of these enclosures as they are a bargain. These HOT Enterprise drive barely reach 40C in operation inside, and USB3 transfer rates are about what you would expect from the drive specs themselves.

Works like a charm
Works like a charm. You do have to assemble it a bit but nothing difficult. I barely looked at the manual and figured it out. A nice aluminum enclosure with power switch and LED indicator light. Comes with power adapter and USB cable. NOTE: this is designed for 3.0 and 3.5 inch drives in particular!

Very good quality.
The quality of the enclosure is really good. All metal case and a solid method of securing the hard drive. It works perfectly and with the included upright stand, one has a choice of having it lay flat or stand it on either side. I would recommend this enclosure.

Works but overheats, fan was not spinning inside it.
I had this item sent overseas, so when it arrived defective, instead of returning it I decided to "fix" it. The fan inside was not spinning. Apparently the fan header that supplies 12v was dead, so I hot wired it to the 12v voltage switch. The enclosure was still hot to the touch, so I used some power tools and cut holes in the front and back of the unit so the fan can push better air flow. There is a black plastic sticker film inside that separates the drives area from the electronics, and the fan. So what point is that to have a fan but the air can't flow past the hard drives. I removed that too. So now, the fan spins fine, there is adequate ventilation to push through the hard drives. It's still a little hot but not so bad. The functionality isn't the best. You can't format a drive IN the enclosure and then remove it and expect it to work solo in the PC, because it uses virtual block sizes or something with the crappy Jmicron chipset. There are ways to get THAT to work but it's very complicated. The other thing I didn't like was it's constantly powering down (and up) every 10 minutes or so, with no way to turn it off. The firmware is stuck on power saving mode after 10 mins. Does not matter USB power saving settings. I got around it by creating a cron job in linux (which it was connected to) to touch a file every 5 minutes. If you like it powering down every 10 minutes more power to you, but I find that something will poll the USB bus, or poll the attached hard drives, especially in Windows and constantly spin up down up down up down the drives in the enclosure and that creates a lot of wear on the drives, so be sure they have a good warranty and you're using RAID 1. I'm a little harsh on my 1 star review but to be fair I DID have to open it, mod the fan to make it work, mod the case to make it vent air, and use tricks in the OS to keep it from powering down. It's not worth any more than $30, and that's mostly for the cost of the aluminum LOL.

Intended to use as a permanently connected enclosure for backups, but included USB cable is way too short and does not reach my PC which is hanging from under the desk. Will keep it and still use as a monthly backup tool, but will need to connect and disconnect to the front of the PC each time. Be aware of this important limitation.

Cet appareil surchauffe. Le ventilateur, si il y en a un est complètement non performant! J’ai retourné 2 appareils de suite.
