Brilliant stuff, went on like a dream
Brilliant stuff. Just moved in to a rental house and the decking was not looking the best. I did one coat (thus far) and the coverage is brilliant. It quite thick too, which is good. I used 3/4 of a tin on my decking. I would suggest getting a decking brush too. The brush and the Cuprenol go on like a dream with little effort and took me an hour to do the whole decking. Also before you use it, give the decking a good going over with a wire broom to prepare it, give it a good sweep and wash down too. I will definitely buy again and 100% recommend this product.

Good decking preserver!
I used Cuprinol 5122415 UV Guard Decking Oil in Natural Oak on my garden decking and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. The oil soaked in beautifully, enhancing the wood’s natural colour and giving it a warm, rich finish. It feels more protected against the weather, and fade so far seems minimal. Easy to apply with a brush or roller and dries at a good pace. Overall excellent for freshening up outdoor wood!

Worked for me, and survived its first winter pretty well......
UPDATED APRIL 2015 - see final paragraph. Following a house move in 2012, I wanted something to work a miracle on an area of over 80 square yards of badly neglected softwood decking, which at a guess was around 15 years old, and had not been retreated for at least 10 years, if ever. Due to a combination of algae and mould, the surface was quite slippery even in the dry, and when it was wet it was lethal. In the winter it never really got a chance to dry out so was a no go area for most of the time. After a lot of research, including looking at all the reviews on Amazon, I decided to try Cuprinol Ultra Tough Decking Stain, mainly because it was described as being non-slip. To prepare the surface I applied a couple of treatments of an algae remover (can't remember the make) which I got from a local shop, but that didn't really make a lot of difference, so I resorted to the jet wash, which was extremely effective. It did leave a slightly rough surface, but I decided that this would probably provide a better key for the stain, so I didn't bother to do any sanding down. When I opened the first tin I was rather alarmed at the colour which was very orangey, even after a thorough stirring, but went ahead anyway. It went on very easily using a 5 inch fence paint brush, which was the same width as the decking planks. It still looked very orangey once applied, but to my relief it did tone down quite a bit as it dried out. Applying the initial first coat I probably got about 25 square yards of coverage, way short of the claimed 20 square metres for two coats, but given the nature of the surface I was not really surprised. If applied to brand new decking it would obviously go a lot further. After applying a second coat the next day, I am pleased to report that the colour was pretty close to what it should have been (no trace of orange!) and also that the second coat went quite a bit further. Overall I probably managed to cover about 14 square yards per tin, based on two coats. And, most importantly, as there are little gritty particles in the stain, it does seem to live up to the non slip description even when wet. After three months it still looks very smart, there is no sign of any lifting or deterioration, and the rain now sits on the top of the wood instead of soaking in. So, although I appreciate that it has yet to go through its first winter, I feel that the renovation has turned what was basically an eyesore into something I am very happy to live with, and would be more than happy to use this Cuprinol product again. Once it has been through its first winter I will update this review. UPDATE APRIL 2015: Well, all in all the decking survived the winter pretty well, and it was much safer than before thanks to the non- slip properties of the product, even during periods when it was almost permanently wet. There are a few lighter patches which will need to be retreated but I suspect that is because the timber was probably a bit more porous in places, so the Cuprinol soaked in a but deeper. I will probably end up giving the whole of the decking a further coat when the weather is more suitable, just to keep the finish fairly uniform. So, I am pleased to report that I am still happy with my choice.

Good stuff
This is a good bit of kit, especially when the surface is prepared properly.

Good uv decking oil
I used the uv decking oil, colour natural, 5l, 2 coats, 12sqm of decking. Worked very well, easy to apply, gives lovely shiny golden tone to the colour of your wooden decking. When it applies it looks like milk, but it dries down completely clear. As it applies like milk its consistency is very thin. But this thin consistency helps to get into the little gaps of the wooden texture. I applied with a decking brush and it was very easy. I have about 12sqm decking and the 5l were more than plenty. I have about 300ml left. The oil leaves a nice, slightly sticky texture once dried, which makes the decking less slippery and gives the feet a good grip on the decking. Overall I can recommend this product. It's the second time that I have used it. I used it 2 years ago and had an equally good experience last time. It should last us another 1-2 years.

Good finish, didn't go as far as expected.
Treated deck, which had not been done for several years. Grooved boarding 15ft x 7ft2ins - 4.5m x 2.2m approx. Applied using 5" paint brush, goes on slightly blue coloured so you can see where you have been. Can covered 9.75sqm with one coat. This may have been due to very porous wood. Pictures are after this single application. Might wait until next year to do again!
