Introducing Drum Kit part 1 (Trinity College London): Drum Teaching Material

Does the job.

I received this book today. I have been working from "The Drumset Musician" and "Stick Control for the Snare Drummer." "Introducing Drum Kit" is a one stop shop for the beginner, however. It covers the basics in a more broad way. It has some very easy play along "songs" to get you started. Playing along with music is a skill in itself. It's good to start with some very simple pieces to get you used to just playing along, counting the bars, etc."The Drumset Musician" is also a great book but feels a little more like an encyclopaedia of drum patterns than a "teach yourself" book. It is good for doing exercises and learning different beat patterns, but there is no structure in it that tells you how to progress.I would certainly recommend "Introducing Drum Kit" for beginners. The note at the end of the book says that once you've completed it you are ready to start learning grade 1 pieces.

The is a good book for the beginner, and my son is learning the drums at school. He is following it well which is testament to the style and audience of the book. I found the price a little expensive (£10) hence one star knocked off, but for content I can't really fault it.

Excellent instructions (although I have teacher too). Very clear step by step guide to acquiring skills. Downloadable accompaniments to add interest and get you playing along with music.

There's no CD!!!!!

The drum book I received is absolutely not what is shown in the listing. What I received is called "Introducing Drum Kit Part 1". The listing also claims that it comes with a CD. It did not come with a CD. Instead, it offered a download link.I will return this for an exchange and if I get the product that is actually shown here, I may change the review.

Great for beginners and intermediates as it shows how to properly play the drums, hold sticks etc and makes you realise if you've been doing things wrong

This is a good start in learning to play drums. The notation is clear and very understandable. There's also a CD that you can play along with or just jam to!Purchase was easy and delivery was fast. i will probably return to buy the next book in the series
