I bought this pill cutter, because my cat has been prescribed Gabapentin, and if you’ve EVER tried to ‘cut’ a Gabapentin Tablet evenly ‘in half’, you will know how almost IMPOSSIBLE it is to do, without it shattering into small pieces! I was tearing my hair out trying to cut these tablets! So I went searching for some sort of ‘alternative’ way to cut my cats Gabapentin Tablets, and I came across THIS WONDERFUL PILL CUTTER! Although initially I have to admit that I did have to think twice before actually purchasing it, because it is quite expensive, I was SO desperate, I thought I’d give it a go! And I am SO glad I did! It works slightly differently from most other pill cutters, because instead of using the standard ’single’ blade, this little pill cutter has TWO BLADES, one on the top blue cover, and another one that comes up from underneath the white bottom. The interior has a ‘guide’ that holds the pill securely in place, preventing it from sliding around whilst you cut it, and the ‘platform’ that you place the pill onto, is ‘floating’ on some sort of a ‘sprung mechanism’, so that when you push down on the blue cover, that contains the first blade, at the same time, the second blade comes up from the bottom, underneath the pill, so then cutting the pill with TWO blades instead of a single blade! A basic, simple concept, but it actually WORKS! I found that the most successful way to use this pill cutter, was to use both hands, and then push down on either side of the cutter, evenly, using the base of my thumbs (see photo 1). It managed to make light work in cutting all of my Tablets, which are less prone to shattering (see photo 2), but it did also manage to successfully cut my cat’s Gabapentin as well, upon ‘most’ attempts, but that wasn’t the fault of this pill cutter, the fault, as I’ve said, lies in the type of tablets that my cat is currently taking. So, to sum up, yes, it IS on the pricey side, but if you have to cut medication Tablets on a regular basis, the time and stress that this pill cutter will save you, makes it definitely WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!

I have peripheral neuropathy, so doing fiddly things with pills can be difficult. I have a cat who needs pills cut up and put into gelatin capsules before giving to him so he doesn't taste the meds, and I do them in bulk. I had been using a cheap cutter with a single blade and a hinge where you close it on the pill and it cuts it, but it did not hold the pill securely and even if the pill didn't move the hinge allowed some wiggle room, so the pills frequently didn't cut evenly, which means they sometimes didn't fit easily into the capsule or gave uneven dosing. This one cuts cleanly and evenly. Some of the pills he needs are so small that the centering/holding device doesn't quite hold them still, but the lid is transparent so you can see where the pill is and gently place the lid so the blade is centered on the pill, and once the blade is touching the pill it won't move and it splits well. It is easy to use even with my clumsy fingers. It is expensive but it is better than buying a cheap one that is unreliable. It also leaves a lot less pill dust than the cheap one, so less of the meds are lost in the cutting process.

Excellent for any pills big or small, easy to use, cuts cleanly and without mess. Easy to line up and particularly useful for people with weak or impaired hands. Way overpriced but better than the rest.

The idea for this pill cutter is great; however, the execution is a big failure in my opinion. It is very fiddly and inaccurate when cutting pills, as it doesn't hold them securely or cut them that cleanly. I have reverted to a simple plastic pill cutter supplied by my local veterinarian, and although it is not perfect, it certainly is much better than this. As I said, it is a great idea, but much sturdier materials are required for this to actually work. Hopefully, this will be addressed one day, but until then, this is an absolute no for me. *EDIT* I was wrong about a few things regarding this pill cutter. It is actually quite effective and accurate. I was rushing when aligning the tablet and applying too much pressure. I still stand by my comment regarding the materials, a bit sturdier at the price would have given this the 5th star.

Pricy but cuts the pill equally with no crushing the pill to bits

Love this pill cutter because it’s the 4th or 5th one that I’ve tried and until now none of them have worked and they either just smashed the pill into lots of pieces (the generic cheap plastic ones) or just didn’t work at all (the expensive metal ones that look cool but don’t even hold the pill in place!). This actually cuts the pill into roughly equal halves and handles the pill really well and clamps it into place with a little pull out device and then when it locks into place you put the lid on and then push down and it snaps in half via a blade below which combines with the blade above which gives you a better slicing action and an even division. Don’t even bother with any other ones just get this because the others just don’t work and this is the closest to a 50/50 spilt that I have got and it’s even better than if I manually use a razor blade to split the pills by hand which would sometimes break and crumble whereas this hasn’t done that yet so it beats any other method I’ve tried hands down every time. Possible down sides are it’s made of plastic which hopefully doesn’t break or degrade over time especially with the heavy snapping motion but given how well it works especially compared to the other rubbish on the market, I can’t complain about something that hasn’t even happened yet so it’s all good so far and I really love this pill cutter!

This was expensive for a pill cutter. It work ok if cutting in half, but my dog has very small tables and I have to cut in quarters. But gripping that hold the table is too big, so no way to keep the table in place while cutting it. So not fit for purpose.

This is seriously the best pill cutter ever. It cuts perfect halves, every time. I used to use the cheap ones and even if I lined them up correctly, they would split the pills unevenly and/or leave me with a bunch of crumbs. That is not an issue with this one at all. It is very easy to use and absolutely worth the price. 10/10, would highly recommend.

My wife needs to split a tiny, crumbly, 6 mm tablet to get the correct dose of her daily medication. When we ask the Pharmacy to split them, they become a fragmented mess. I tried doing it myself using a cheap splitter gadget , and also with a pair of scissors, both of which worked but with a high fragmentation rate and uneven split. I just split a bottle of 45 tablets with this splitter and I didn't have a reject in the lot. They were split cleanly and accurately with only a handful of insignificant crumbs. This is not cheap, but it really does work!

Fait le job , cependant pour les petits cachets, c’est vraiment très compliqué de les positionner correctement et de couper en 2 pieds en quatre. Et le coupe de pilule est vraiment très cher, mais c’est vrai qu’il fait très peu de miettes. Si on appuie assez fort pour couper en une seule fois.

As a working professional who needed to cut thousands of pills a week, this cutter serves very well for me. 1. It cuts accurately, and you can SEE what you are cutting. 2. There are some pills that are too small to be held in place, but as long as you cut it on a flat table there is no issues cutting it anyway. 3. there is much less breakage than other cutters 4. You can cut a large oblong tablet into quarters crosswise, not possible for other cutters. 5. Durable, every part serves its purpose and is easy to clean.
