For its cheap price, you receive a lot. All of the classic Tom and Jerry shorts are here from 1940-1964 I think.

It has I think every single Tom & Jerry cartoon on, even the rubbish 1960s ones. All uncensored. If you're of an age, this is nostalgic heaven!!

Contained within this boxed set of 6 DVD's are some of the finest cartoons of the 1940's through 1950's. They are a joy to watch no matter your age. However' there are flaws in this set; along with the gems you get the dross from both earlier times and later on in the 1960's and onwards when standards of animation and storytelling realy had fallen (probably the change from them being made for theatrical release in the cinema and their downfall due to the financial constraints of "made for TV"). Unfortunatley they are all mixed up, the result is that two discs are pure gold and the rest very variable. In addition, as mentioned by other reviewers, there is obvious evidence of an american politically correct censor at work. This robs parents of the chance to educate children about how in the past certain groups of people were desciminated against and even made fun of, and that we have changed and, I hope, evolved. These censored episodes are ruined and loose vital elements as well as allowing us to make informed judgements of our own as to American society, past and present. However, I still rate this as 4 star because the gems are masterworks and all children, no matter their age, 3 or 93, should have an opportunity to see these works of art and eternal humour.

Great collection and such a nostalgic movie

First, to clear up any confusion, this set consists of the equivalent of 12 DVDs, which are recorded onto 7 discs, 5 of which are double-sided. That means that you get 14 hours and 48 minutes worth of cartoons or, to put it another way, a grand total of 159 of them. These are the originals, before they were made on a production line for television. In other words they are well-drawn, well-scripted and - most importantly - actually funny. My grandson loves them and, I must confess, so do I. LATER: Having now had chance to watch them all, we found volume 10 to be absolute drivel. Whoever was responsible had no idea of slapstick humour, none whatsoever about scripting, nor of appropriate music. All the episodes were atrocious. Volumes 11 and 12 are rather better, and certainly watchable, although not quite up to the standard of volumes 1-9. Still, that gives nine volumes directed by the great Fred Quimby and so makes the set a good buy by anyone's standards, even with the lesser stuff at the end.

Many people write negative reviews on this product for either the region 2 lock or for the missing two episodes. However this is the most complete dvd collection you will find, for the most reasonable price. Just make absolute certain you have either a region free, region 2, or changeable-region player with which to play them (typically dvd drives can change regions a limited number of times, or if you have a gaming console which can play dvds, check to see if you can change the region). If you wish to find the two missing episodes, their names are “Million Dollar Cat” and “Busy Buddies”. But other than that I love the series and the quality of everything has been more than good enough for me.

I was very excited to have these for my children. Unfortunately, not even one DVD worked. The seller is from England and told me that I should change my regional settings for my DVD player. There is no regional setting on my player though. I tried my comptroller but the DVDs did not work there either. It’s a sham product. Please don’t buy.

Commandée pour Noël dernier, j'ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à me replonger dans cette collection d'épisodes proposée par ordre chronologique de production. Même s'il est dommage que l'image n'ait pas fait l'objet d'une remasterisation, au moins peut-on se régaler avec la quasi intégralité (il manque deux épisodes disponibles dans le coffret édition américaine) de ces sketchs adorables et hilarants. Ce coffret édition anglaise se présente sous la forme d'un digipack compact pratique à insérer dans une vidéothèque. Ceci est rendu possible grâce à certains DVD double-face. Une excellente idée, d'autant plus que ces disques (contrairement au coffret américain) sont parfaitement lisibles sur nos platines DVD françaises.
