Interesting and intriguing sticks
These feel different to untreated wood. Not in a bad way. They seem tougher without being necessarily brittle. I chose the 'rebound' balance version and it feels good to me. Not fond of front heavy sticks so it was an easy choice to make. Rebound refers to the way the stick responds to a stroke. It is balanced so that it favours neither butt nor tip. A bit pricey but if they actually last longer that should work out. I'd like to know if a maple version will be available. I prefer a slightly thicker diameter with less weight than hickory provides. Overall a nice confident feeling stick.

These are great sticks
These really are great sticks, you definitely apply less grip to the stick, I’d say if I there was an negatives is that the tips don’t last any longer than regular sticks.

Not great tbf
I've been playing drums for around 20+ years. I play a mixture of styles and very rarely break sticks. They just get gnarled away over time.Ive always used Promark sticks. I love the finish and they usually last me quite a few months of regular playing. With a week's worth of theatre shows (8 in total with matinée and evening shows) thought I'd try these FIREGRAIN as I heard they were tougher. Little more expensive than the usual, but thought I'd invest.3 shows in all edges gnarled away and it's left lovely brown stains over my new coated heads.Weight of them are nice, but no different to like hickory. Save the extra quid and go for standard sticks rather than these gimmicky things.

Structural fault
Outstanding while they lasted, which was for about three hour-long sessions of light use. Disappointed due to the high price and the fact the company claims they are high durability. Only one stick snapped though, the other is fine after frequent use, which indicates an anomaly. Tried to email to complain (have returned and had faulty items replaced like this before) however the Amazon website made this difficult and it got nowhere.
