Too explicit and triggering
I will not be giving this book to the person I bought it for. It seems quite inappropriate in the language it uses and examples it gives, I was quite shocked to read it. Early on there is a section on trauma which asks ‘do you suspect you may be living with trauma?’ And then gives a list of awful experiences you may have been exposed to. Then there is a depersonalisation quiz where you grade to what extent you have lost the essence of your personality, amongst other things.. To me it doesn’t seem aimed at a teen audience and doesn’t seem to offer any comfort or support for the extreme emotions it suggests people may feel. I would hope they would get more help than this book. It seems to have helped others from the reviews but for me it’s going in the recycling. Also I think it’s self published which may mean less oversight of the content.

Not suitable for younger teens
This book looks great, but for older teens. I bought it for my 11 year old who is struggling with frustration and emotional regulation, but I can't give it to him because it does talk about self harm and sexual abuse, two topics he doesn't know about or need to know about at this stage.

Had to stop reading it
It’s very text heavy, my daughter is 12 and it seemed like homework, plus she felt even more anxious about having to answer questions like, have you had a traumatic experience, write about it here… etc Perhaps more helpful for older teens.

Too long and too much for any teen to get through

I liked how the author really considered what parents and their kids need to reflect and to feel better. Mental health is such an important topic for teens since social media is their go to "get away". Absolutely support this movement and would describe this book as a great and easy tool for kids/youngsters. Would recommend.

This workbook is broken down into two parts being cognitive techniques and behavioral techniques This workbook provides teens with exercises that reinforce the many different skills such as navigating different emotions, how to manage stress in a healthy way, how to regulate and come back to earth whenever your feeling overwhelmed etc. Very educational books that I had bought for my son.
