Quirky and fun
After watching Dylan on both YouTube and TikTok I knew this book was too to be filled with some ‘interesting’ recipes and I wasn’t disappointed. There are some that are definitely questionable and others that will become favourites for their simplicity and reliability. He has definitely made a name for himself trying some recipes that should have stayed in the past and some that we’ve forgotten about because they were delicious. This book is an eye opener into how his mind works and why he chose to include the dozens of recipes. The photography is stunning and it captures his creations beautifully. If you’re interested in stepping back for nostalgic mealtimes this is the book for you. You could quite easily open a few eyes at dinner parties or BBQ’s if you brought any one of these creations as the dessert !!You may be the talk of the event for both the right and wrong reasons depending on what you take!

Fantastic book, gotten a lot of use in just a few weeks
I preordered this book for a friend's birthday as I knew he enjoyed B. Dylan Hollis' videos on Youtube. We went through it together when it arrived and we were most impressed by how simple and affordable most of the recipes are. He has already made three of the recipes; the Cold Oven Cake, the Wacky Cake and the Whipped Cream Cake. The Cold Oven Cake was amazing, one of the best we've ever had and the Whipped Cream cake is peculiar, but in a good way as its still amazing. The Wacky Cake left a little to be desired but in fairness my friend reckons he messed up in the recipe so will try again at some point. The only drawback to this book is that there's not more recipes to try so we're both hopeful that Hollis will release another cookbook in due course. Highly recommend.

A fun, well formatted book
This is a great recipe book. Not only does it have lots of tasty historical recipes in it but it manages to capture Dylan's natural flair which is so wonderful to see. Having been a fan of his videos for a long time I was anxious to see if his book did his energy on film justice and it does. The book is filled with lots of colour pictures which make it beautiful to look at.The recipes are easy to follow, even for a novice, plus include metric and °C notes for those of us outside of the US who want to try them.As for the recipes themselves they are delicious and cater to a variety of different tastes.(There is also a small handful of the Tiktok famous 'disaster' recipes are included at the back for those of us who want to experience them for ourselves.)I love this book and know that it will be my go-to recipe book from now on.

Better than it has a right to be
He's a strange chap if you watch his TikTok / Youtube shorts but enthusiastic. As he says some of the recipe's are actually quite nice, some - which he notes appropriately are an affront to the senses and general good taste. What was it with the 60's and Jello?Wasn't expecting this to be as amusing as it is

The Must-Have Retro baking book
I have not seen any of the Tik Tok videos, so come to this with no expectations, just needing a cook book for retro recipes for a party. It's fantastic. Definitely going to be one of my favourite books. I love everything about it: the recipes, the opinions of the author, the beautiful photography and the quality of the book. I am even tempted by one of the recipes in the 'don't try these' chapter: not the spaghetti/jello ring. I am mostly sane!!!I'd buy this book for the Ambrosia recipe alone: a staple of every Las Vegas buffet. Highly recommended on every level.

I absolutely love Dylan's humour 😍💖
I had this book on pre-order for what felt like years. It finally arrived this week and I was soooo happy.I knew, before I ordered it, that I would have problems with a lot of the ingredients not being UK friendly, but I didn't care. My only unforseen annoyance is the lack of gas mark temperatures for the oven.As I said I absolutely love Dylan, but this book wasn't as 'Dylan' as it could have been.I find him so hilarious.Buy this book, have a laugh, go online for some of the ingredients, print up an oven conversion list, check out his YouTube channel and ENJOY !!!It's only the lack of info that means I can't give it 5/5 stars...... Sorry Dylan.

Really good book
I've been watching Dylan's videos on YouTube. Was a bit worried about buying the book, thought it would be all American ingredients. It isn't! Most of it has ingredients available in the UK. Can't wait to start making things from the book. Love Dylan's advice and humour at the start of every recipe. Don't think I'll try the jellied meatloaf though!
