Silverline Drill-Powered Drain-Cleaner Auger 6m x 13mm (987173) , Blue

I had a blockage in my kitchen sink that would not clear. For two weeks I tried everything I could think of short of Dynamite or completely stripping the waste pipe. The problem was that it's a terrible design that uses "welded" joints and there are six, yes, that's right , 6 90 degree bends and of course the blockage was at the last one. Chemical cleaners couldn' reach it and I couldn't rip it all out as I live in rented property. A plumber was out of the question because of the cost. Got this auger and after running it through a couple of times the blockage cleared! Easy to use, and the drill on it meant that the end of the auger could rotate at a good speed and on high speed it flapped around and knocked all the residue clear. Well worth buying, I can empty my sink without a bucket now.

This drain auger did the job of clearing out roots from my surface water/gutter drains without a problem. It also helps being able to attach it to a drill for getting rid of a few harder to move blockages. Good product for the money with lifetime warranty just register it on the website, the instructions of how to use are not good though.Basically just loosen off the screw at the front, pull the auger wire out and then feed it down the drain, when you reach the blockage give a little extra wire and tighten the screw, next attach the drill and go in the clockwise direction.

Little bulky and flimsy.

Bought this item in hope that I could clear a drain.I went for this particular model because I could attach my cordless driver to it. After five minutes the handle and body locked up, there appeared to be no way to free them apart again, this meant that you had to hold the handle loosely and allow it to spin in your hand. I managed to get the coil end to dig into the drain about 15 cm after which the coil kinked at the nozzle. After there was a kink in the coil the whole contraption was pointless, it was impossible to get any further depth to the coil end and make a passage through the blocked drain. I'm guessing that this item might just be ok for your sink pipe with a light blockage to clear

Used several other products and devices to clear a slow running drain, but none had any effect. So had to call out a plumber and they used one of these and the problem was gone, so the next time it happened I ordered this as the price is fantastic and looks exactly like the tool the professional used. Connected it to my cordless drill and slowly started the drill off while pulling out the cable, resistance on the cable going out more after carefully negotiating the bends in the pipes meant I had found the blockage, increasing the drill speed while gently moving the cable back and forth and trying to extend the cable even more, soon broke down the blockage and pushed it through. So five minutes of work and the drain is clear and no plumbers bills, very impressed with this kit wished I had bought one sooner.

Used to clear a slowly draining basin. Easy to use and definitely worth having in your tool shed

I was sick of sink clogs.This is the medieval cure for that hole. Just snake it through patiently (below trap level) and slowly work its magic whilst attached to an adjustable power drill.Have a cloth or two at hand to avoid splashing when pulling out.

Large and cumbersome. Used this under a bath after uncoupling a straight connector on the waste pipe run to the soil pipe. Used a cordless drill and pulsed the drain unblocker whilst feeding it back and forth in the pipe run. Cleared the blockage. It's ok but not tried it on anything more difficult so unable to say whether this Is a worthwhile purchase. I've only given 3 stars as I found It a bit awkward to use at times. However, once you've learnt the pitfalls, you get on with it ok. I'd say that I don't regret buying this as It'll get some more use In other customers houses and It's better that the auger rotates within the pipework rather than a more traditional snake just prodding away and compacting whatever Is causing the blockage.
