However, I would suggest that you try a bit on some spare fabric before commiting to sticking it allover your best project. FYI, I stuck apiece of this onto my thumb and ran it under hot water and it did disolve. Using it on fabric, I would think that a couple of washes will get it all out. I have found this tape to be very useful when sticking together stretch seams in preparation to stitching. Also, this tape does not make your sewing machinem needle sticky. **Q: Can you sew through it without gumming up sewing machine needle?** A: I machine sew through it without any problems at all, but find hand sewing more prone to ending up with a sticky needle. The needles can be easily cleaned with Isopropyl Alcohol or Surgical Spirit on a cotton pad. **Q: does this need to be heat set?** A: Nope, you lay your chosen length on to ,say your fabric, peel off the white strip. Then place your zip or fabric on top , smooth down. Then stitch in place. No need to remove tape. Done. **Q: Does this give a professional finish when hemming knits with an ordinary sewing machine please** A: It definitely helps with hemming knits, as long as you don't stretch the fabric as you are pressing the two layers together. I have found it also helps with tunnelling with a twin needle, especially when you use it where you are going to stitch. Since it is only a quarter inch wide, you do need to make sure you apply it in the right area if you want to stitch over it, but its so easy to use and you can reposition it once or twice if you need to. ## Frequently Bought Together - Hotop 1/4 Inch Quilting Sewing Tape Wash Away Tape, Each 22 Yard (2 Rolls) - MiniRed 10Yards Bulk Zipper, (#3) Zippers for Sewing, White Nylon Coil Zipper by The Yards, Replacement Sewing Zipper with 20PCS Zipper Sliders for DIY Sewing Craft Bags (#3 White) - PLANTIONAL Medium Weight White Iron-On Non-Woven Fusible Interfacing: 11.6" x 30yd Medium Weight Non-Woven Interfacing Iron On Polyester Single-Sided Interfacing for DIY Crafts Supplies --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/49267645-1-4-inch-quilting-sewing-tape-wash-away-tape-each](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/49267645-1-4-inch-quilting-sewing-tape-wash-away-tape-each) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
