The slingshot is not a 5 star. It did not perform as expected.
It far exceeded my expectations and is a 10 star!I'm a 60 year old, 195 lb, who has been stuck benching 275 max for six months. I've done a lot to vary my workout to get over the hump, to lift 285. Haven't been able to get there (although I can get 275 two reps).Today, first workout with the full boar (I got a 2XL, 17" BICEPS, fits perfect). I put it on at 225lb as I worked up in weight and banged out a quick 5 reps, then 245 and 5 reps. Then an easy 275. So I put on 295 and did a nice 3 reps. Put on 315 for 1. Then pyramided back down doing several sets at 275, 245 where I banged out 12 reps, and on down. The pump in the pecs was incredible. Never felt anything like it. My triceps weren't at all fatigued, telling me the pectorals were doing the brunt of the work. I ended up doing a total of 18 sets and was bursting my shirt when I finished. Hours later, the chest was still pumped.I watched some of the howmuchyabench videos on you tube before I used it, and they are very helpful. I spoke to two big lifters (over 500 lb bench) at my gym and they both have used the slingshot red version in their training. They both spoke very highly of it. The full boar may be too much of an assist, but given the chest pump, I don't think so. I fully expect that I will exceed my 275 raw in 30 days.Update 30 days later: the workouts have been great and the results show it. I've increased my one rep max from 275 to 290. The sling allows you to use increased weight, do more sets, do more reps. By increasing your workload, you're going to improve your results

Highly Recommended
I am in my 40's, 6'0, 200lbs, and have had lingering shoulder pain from decades of lifting so I stopped lifting heavy for a while until I saw this and gave it a try. I've been using it for a few months now on flat and decline benches and I have to say that it works great! It allows me to safely feel heavier weight without killing my shoulder. I also use it to complete a high volume/burnout of push ups and dips.Personal Disclaimer: I am in no way, shape, or form a power lifter. I'm just a guy who has worked it most of his life to stay in shape. With that said, I can definitely see how it would be beneficial to those who do power lift. The most weight I have used with this is 315lbs and it has held up tremendously. I primarily workout alone so I don't think I'll use too much more weight but if you have a spot I'm sure you could go much heavier.

SURPRISINGLY EFFECTIVE!
When I first ordered this, I was very skeptical and thought that "this thing is just a large rubber band with sleeves" and wondered why anyone would want to spend money on this thing. However, after using this product for about a 6 weeks, I have found it to be a very effective training aid for improving bench press. I use it for shock overload every so often and it really has helped my bench press improve. As others have commented, it helps keep your elbows tucked and maintain good form while benching. While it may appear to merely be a large elastic band, it is actually very well made and durable and very much worth the price because it provides assistance in the form of elastic force at the bottom of the bench press movement. I don't use it for all sets all the time, but use it as an occasional aid to get a few more reps with a weight that might be a little heavy for me at the bottom of the bench movement. I am not a big bencher or competitor, I am just a guy that likes to keep in shape. Bench press has always been a sore spot for me, but this thing is definitely one of the best training aids out there in my opinion.

This will have your alarm ringing gains o'clock with every workout
I use this for dips, push-ups, and bench press because I have some elbow and shoulder pain from lifting like an ignorant bro during my teens and twenties. I wanted to lift strong (and safe) in my 30s and beyond, so I went to Mark Bell's website and found this product. Get the one that fits your goals-plus, even though this isn't technically the 'push-up' slingshot, you can do push-ups with it. I got this one because of its design history being created to help Mark's brother lift after accumulated trauma to elbows and shoulder joints. It works. When I lift on my own, I don't go heavier than about 275-285, but with a spotter around, I can do a few extra sets at the end of my workout with 3-5 reps of 315, and those reps are under control. I read initial reviews of the product where people went too heavy too quickly and got injured-I see how that happened, because when you throw heavy weight on the bar and you have this apparatus that can help you get the weight back up, your new problem area isn't elbows/shoulders, it's your wrists. I put this on for my first workout and when I did 275, my wrists quickly rotated (almost snapped) because they weren't used to the feel. I went down to 225 and spent the next month (4 chest workouts-1 per week) working on getting used to how this product feels as I lift off, lower through a proper path, and explode back up on the bench. On my 5th workout, I put 315 on the bar and did 2 sets of 3 reps, no problems with grip or wrist rotation. I will always carry Mark Bell products with me to the gym, from the hip circle to the gangsta wraps, to the full boar slingshot, because they work. He's not the meathead millionaire for nothing. His products deliver results. I'm in better shape approaching 40 than I was as a young "do you even lift, bro" bro because I'm lifting with proper technique and I'm taking care of my joints. With this, I'll be able to lift 300+ pounds when I'm in my 40s.
