Channellock 447 GIDDS2-821226 Curved Jaw Diagonal Cutting Plier Grey/Blue, 7.5-Inch Curved Diagonal

Just got these since some parasite stole my old Stanley dykes. The Stanleys were 7-1/2" so they were a little smaller, but still good pliers. As good as the Stanleys were, these 9-1/2" brutes are a step above. I just took apart some riveted together steel rods and sheetmetal. At first I was going to drill out the 1/4 inch rivets...and then I remembered my new dykes...let me give those a try! These things tore the top off the rivets like they were butter and they bent the sheet metal out of the way with ease. The angled jaw really helps you get leverage on stuff.Oh and these pliers cut through wire with no hesitation. Nail heads...gone. I cut a bunch of stuff to see how they would perform...anything thin was no problem, the thicker things get, the more effort you have to put into it but if your hands are strong enough, it'll cut it. I tried some spring wire...about .075, no problem. I don't think it's a good idea to cut thicker spring steel, but their catalog says you can cut hard wire between .047 and .091. Anyway, after my testing and abuse, they still cut paper perfectly and the jaws show no sign of nicks etc. Even the tiniest of stranded wire and twine left no stragglers...just a crisp cut!These may not be the most elegant pliers, but these bad boys are tough and fairly priced...and I like to see those words...Made in USA.

I do a lot of wiring and good side cutters are indispensable. These are good ones. I use them to cut a lot of copper electrical wire and they give a clean cut with ease. As big as they are, the head is small enough to fit into tight quarters. The long handles give you leverage to cut thick wire and the jaws are strong enough to handle whatever you stick into them. Handy and useful on the job and made to last years.

This line of tools last forever. Only reason I bought this is to replace my dikes I lost that were 15 years old. They are always sharp and work as they should.

I love this brand for their strength and precision tolerances. Also very durable. My only thing is they are not plated, so they will rust if you don’t keep them oiled. So that cost them a star. On the other hand they are made of very good steel, so they don’t rust like cheapy hand tools, but it’s better to stay after them. Once in awhile I clean them up on my wire wheel and spray them with wd40. Still, they are great tools otherwise - it’s why they continue to occupy my plier drawer 👍

This purchase was to get a second set of these great-size dikes for use at our second home. I've had a pair for 20 years and they've become my goto tool for a whole host of jobs. Obviously they cut wire, and are big enough to cut larger electrical cable without being too big and heavy. I've found that smaller ones are a bit too small for larger cables. However, my other common use is for pulling small nails and staples...they're outstanding for this application. The points are sharp enough to be pressed into a wall or wood surface to grab a nail...and then the curved nature of the jaws allows one to leverage the nail out just like with a claw hammer. The length of the handles provides just the needed amount of leverage for typical household nails and staplesGreat product...highly recommended!.

I use these every day a work. The pivot is nice a tight ( Not sloppy ). Therefore the cut nice. This particular model cuts flush. Great for cutting cotter pins.
