I'd not heard of the series but was very pleased with the book as a whole, the way the pages were set out and especially the content. What a find I shall be looking out for other titles in the series. The children participated in the following discussion and even the adults enjoyed it. Great find! Review: Book - Great

Joys of Sharing
Gerald the Elephant has just purchased his favorite flavor of ice cream (form a penguin, of course). As he's about to take his first bite, he begins to think that maybe his best friend Piggie will enjoy some ice cream as well. But he really wants it all. What decision will he reach? And what will happen if he takes too long to do it? This was a bit longer different from the other Elephant and Piggie books I've read because Gerald gets almost all the attention. But the rest of the book fits right at home in the series. The illustrations are simple and the story is told completely through dialog. What I think I appreciated most about this book was the lesson. It truly shows the rewards of sharing without lecturing us once. While there are some amusing bits to the story, this one will definitely pull on your heart strings a bit more than some of the others. Ultimately, this is a book you'll want to share with the kids in your life over and over again.

Perfect for 3-6 year olds. Plus Mo is a genius.
This was my first Mo Willems book and I have since bought about five more. I'm no children's book writer or professional reviewer or anything, but I've read a LOT of children's books since my child was born. This book has been a hit. Here's what I think are the key aspects of Mo's winning formula. Not too long: This book doesn't take long to read, which is great for little kids short attention spans. Not many words per page: There are not too many words per page, which means that kids can not only sort of figure out how to read it themselves, they can also easily memorize what's going to come up next. Kids love it when they know what's going to happen next! Slapstick comedy: I just asked my 4-year old kid why she likes this book. She said it's because it's so silly. I continued to probe. She then revealed that it's because [SPOILER ALERT] the elephant thinks about sharing his ice cream for so long that it melts and falls and he says, NOOooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! There's a page with the elephant screaming Noooooo, and that's it. My kid counted the 'o's. Comedy. [END SPOILER] A nice message: This is a story about sharing, thinking of your friends feelings (empathy!), and then realizing how nice it is when people share with you. It's great. Parents feel good sharing it with their kids, and kids love it because of the previously mentioned points. Mo Willems is great. Highly recommended!
