I've read several of the Chicken Soup books, but this 4th Course is a particular favorite. I especially like the story of Lewis Lawes, warden of Sing Sing Prison through the 1920s and 1930s. The warden's wife Catherine took an active interest in the prisoners and went to extraordinary lengths on their behalf. When she was killed in a car accident in 1937, the prisoners gathered at the main gate. Restless, grieving, and heartbroken, they wished to pay their final respects. A large number of the prisoners were allowed to leave, unescorted by guards or police, to view Catherine in her casket at home and say goodbye. They walked three quarters of a mile to the Lawes' home, paid their final respects, and then all returned to Sing Sing and their prison cells.There's also a memorial poem by Cheryl Costello-Forshey that is extremely powerful and touching.

You can't go wrong with a helping of Chicken Soup. There are highs, and lows but mostly beauty in every individual story.

I just love chicken soup for the soul. The name of the book say it all with each of the stories in the book hit close to home and there chicken soup for the soul on everything.
