Slows down greedy cats beautifully
The media could not be loaded. I have 2 greedy cats and one REALLY greedy cat that I am trying to slim down a small amount. Usually my female cat wolfs down the biscuits without letting it touch the sides, and this leads to her eating more than her fair share. Given the nature of the problem I bought the interactive tray feeder to try to slow her down and make her focus on chewing the biscuits before swallowing.I use the feeder for one of their portions of food and feed the other in their bowls at a different time of day. It has definitely slowed them down and requires more than a little patience and skill to paw out a biscuit at a time. It is also entertaining to watch as well as for the cats to play with, and it has become a bit of a talking point. They are generally kept engaged and interested when they are hungry enough and will tire of it after 5 minutes or so. Thankfully this means the amount they can eat at one sitting has reduced dramatically and their weight has gone down correspondingly. The tray is really easy to clean and refill, although the prongs in the middle project out so much that I have to distribute the biscuits towards the edges to give the cats a fighting chance. It seems to work well with most sizes of biscuit too.I hope the attached video of Ella trying it out helps to show the feeder in action. It certainly seems to be helping her to get back to her girlish figure of old! She has now lost 1 Kilo using this combined with low calorie food. Now a perfect weight!

Excellent for indoor cat entertainment feeding
We have 3 cats one of whom, despite outdoor access, prefers to live indoors. This means he can tend towards being overweight and a bit depressed without enough stimulation and exercise. To combat this we use the Trixie activity board (big white mixed puzzle feeder) and this to feed him. It keeps his brain working and spreads out feeding times to 10 mins rather than under 5.It’s brilliant and looks pretty funky so fine to have on display. It does have 4 very small grip strips but still moves around a bit on our floorboards as he uses it. No big deal though. It’s slightly more difficult than the Trixie board but most cats could probably use this with a bit of encouragement.Combining this puzzle feeder with exercising him with fun toys we’ve successefully got 0.5kg off him so he’s back to his ideal weight.Would highly recommend a puzzle feeder for all cats who eat dry food. It’s much more fun! Could also be used as an occasional bowl for treats and play rather than main meals.

Slows down our cat's eating
I bought the cat version of this feeder to try and slow down our slightly overweight 5-yr old cat who was practically inhaling her dry food, as soon as we put it down, then pestering us for more food from about 4 hours before her next meal was due.The feeder definitely does slow her down: she was clearly horrified on the first day, but we sat with her and helped her get the first few bits of food out, and she got the hang of it. At first she'd wander away after a few bits of food, apparently unimpressed with the effort now required, but she has become increasingly proficient in getting food out, and now (one week on) finishes a meal in about two 5-minute sessions, approx half an hour apart. She seems to start pestering us for food about 1.5 hours before it's due, now, so eating slower has helped overall.Pros:- Does what it claims to.- Seems well-built & likely to last well.Cons:- Pretty garish in bright purple!- Can't see that it would work with wet food.

Works for my cat :)
Bought this in an effort to stop my cat from eating all her food in one go. We were already weighing it out in portions as recommended by the vet but of course this didn't stop her gobbling it all down in one sitting! I'm not sure this is going to help my cat lose weight - middle aged and inactive as she is, I think that ship has long since sailed ... However, it has definitely stopped regurgitation from eating too fast which is good for both my sanity and my carpets. It didn't take long for her to figure it out and she now comes back to it over the course of the day whenever she's hungry. As mentioned in other reviews it does slide around the floor a bit, as do the crumbs and missed bits of food but nothing a quick sweep with the brush won't solve. Would definitely recommend.

Provides a bit of novelty for a short while, doesnt really slow down cats feeding
I bought the purple cat puzzle feeder for my 2 cats, I have a maine coon who finds getting her paws around it a bit of a struggle so its great for her but the regular sized cat can get the food out very quick, the gaps are big enough that she cat curve her paw and just pick the food up i.e. doesnt need to push it around the obstacles to get it out all. Also there is a gradient in the middle of the feeder so the food you put into the middle falls outwards towards the side making it easier for the cats to get out. Over all wont slow a regular sized cat down.

Great for cats
My cats always want to wolf down their biscuits as fast as possible. Unfortunately, this leads to them bringing the lot up a few minutes later, urgh. This product forces them to eat slowly as the only way they can get at the biscuits is to use their paws to claw them past the rounded spikes and off the unit onto the floor. Initially, I put half their biscuits in their bowls as normal, putting the other half in this feeder. After a day or two puzzling how to get at the rest of their dinner and looking at me reproachfully, my two fluffy friends worked it out, and are now happily eating their biscuits off this feeder, albeit at a greatly reduced speed and thankfully without being sick. It also means they are less likely to overeat as they have to work for each biscuit.Edit Feb 2021. Have had this feeder for more than eight years. Apart from the originally bright purple colour fading in the sun to more of a mauve, it's still in excellent condition. I wash it regularly in the dishwasher and it comes out perfectly clean. Am still pleased with this purchase, years later.
