BECKINGHAM HAMSTER CAGE PALACE EXTRA LARGE WITH FREE HAMSTER BALL

Product was okay for a while and there is lots of space for the hamster to explore. Unfortunately one of the bars came loose one day and my hamster pushed his head through the gap. The bar snapped back into place and trapped his neck in the bars, effectively hanging him. Luckily it happened early evening, so I found him in time to rescue him and he was okay. I put him in his original cage that night and bought another the next day for safety reasons.This cage comes flat-packed and requires assembly. I would recommend checking the cage once assembled to ensure it's safe.

I brought this cage almost 2 years ago now but thought I'd write a review to backup what other people are saying as it may be helpful to people who are considering this cage.My cage also came with wire platforms which I wasn't impressed about at all as it was pictured with plastic platforms which was one of it's selling points to me. Although the dimensions are clearly stated I didn't physically get out a tape measure and work out how big the base would be. So although it is a brilliant height for my hamster, the black base is in fact smaller than her original cage. This was obviously my mistake but I just thought I'd warn others to work out the dimensions before deciding on this cage.I've got a few of these cages and have had 6 hamsters in it over the years. None of them have struggled with getting up or down the tubes - although they were really hard to put together for the first time!The wheel is too small for an adult syrian hamster so was donated to my dwarf hamsters, which has now been replaced by a flying saucer because it made such a noise.The house is cheaply made however my dwarf hamsters love it and it's lasted the 2 years so can't complain about that. However those types of houses are not advised for syrian hamsters and I'd imagine some adult hamsters would struggle to get in the door.The fact that there was 3 doors was great- as my current hamster is a little shy and hard to catch. Also the wire top just clips off from the bottom so that's nice an easy.In conclusion - I wouldn't buy this product again- especially not for that price. For the price I'd expect something a lot better quality and with a bigger base so more space for hammy. I'd be much more likely to buy it again if it had the plastic platforms.However, it is still going strong after 2 years of use. All my hamsters which have lived in it (once it was modified) love it. They love climbing on the wire and have loads of toys in there. So I wouldn't totally write it off as an option- but I think that you could get better for your money

This is a tricky review because I really like the size of the cage (its hard to find a spacious hamster cage anywhere)! But the plastic bits are really cheap and whilst this is new I don't have much confidence that it will survive the teeth of my hamster for very long! Plus unlike the other reviews it took me ages to put this together (no instructions included) and the tubes don't click together that well. i long for the day you can get a decant size cage that's good quality at a fair price!!!

Arrived in good time and seller allowed me to select colour. Free ball arrived damaged though was replaced with no issues. Should be noted that ball is of poor quality however and now in bin as wouldn't trust door to stay closed.

Lovely cage which any hamster would enjoy. However lack of assemble instructions made it a "trial and error" Christmas present, consequently its not yet a home for the des res inhabitants !! I have yet to inspect it , so I cannot comment further.

Plastic levels are a bit difficult to get into position but once they are in it's fine. My Syrian Hammy seems to love his new pad, lots of space, The actual house is good size as well, which is good. Shame about the wheel size, I didn't bother putting it inside the cage in the end as he goes in his ball most days and I had some extra tubes from his previous home so used those to make it a bit more interesting inside. I'd highly recommend this product to all those who are not so sure.
