What a beautiful book!
I love to flip to a random page, then I read both sides of the pages, and I love the shift from negative to positive. The poetry is beautiful, I love the simple clean illustrations and overall this has been a very good addition to my bookshelf.

A gentle, simple, inspiring gift to your mind and soul
This book is like a flurry of little gifts of medicine, joy, understanding and acceptance for my soul. It's a book of 75 pairs of short poems, each pair representing a shift in thinking from negative, anxiety ridden, shame fueled beliefs to ones based in self love, affirmation, acceptance and inspiration, accompanied by beautiful illustrations that make the book feel alive. It's everything I am trying to manifest in my own life. There are many self help books out there you can read about these topics, audiobooks you can listen to on long walks and drives for hours on end. But simple truths are simple truths. And seeing them represented so artfully, poignantly and simply... something about it hits different and resonates deeper. It's the kind of book you want to leave on your nightstand or coffee table, flip through in the morning or randomly at a certain point throughout the day, to get a little dose of perspective that might just shift how you approach whatever problem you're facing, whatever negative thought is keeping you stuck in a loop. I think it also makes a perfect gift if you're looking to sparkle a little bit of joy into someone's world. The beauty of this book is that it's not long and verbose, it doesn't require incredible effort to digest. Something about the grandiose nature of those books has always added a little more stress to my already stressful situation. The Shift is distinctly different. It's also not full of only positive affirmations. Each page meets you where you are or where you've been, and offers you an invitation to quickly and simply shift your thinking into a direction that might allow your thoughts and thinking to blossom. My first sitting with it I got through the first half and found myself ear marking every third or fourth pair of poems or so. I decided to slow down and come back to the book in pieces to let the messages sink in and grow.I'm very grateful to have this book. If anything, it's a reminder that the simplest of ideas can have the most profound impact, and that's something I hope to carry forward with me.

Her best book yet!
I bought Melody’s two previous books (ABC’s of Self Love, and Self Love Poetry for Thinkers and Feelers) and I loved both so was excited for this one to come out. It did not disappoint! A mix of short and longer paired poems, it felt like each and every one was speaking directly to me. Either for something I felt the last few years over the pandemic, or something I’m currently going through now. The picture I posted is one of my favorites in the book. The poems are all the reminders I need each day to shift my perspective. I read the whole thing through the first day. Now I’m looking forward to using it almost like an energy guide for the day, mediate on what message I need to receive that day, open the book to a random page and take in that wisdom for the day. I highly recommend for anyone, and it also makes a great gift.

The book I return to again and again for strength, guidance, and encouragement!
If you haven’t yet read any of Melody Godfred’s poetry, let me just say that it is an HONOR to play any part in convincing you to buy one of her books and start reading. She is truly the self-love Rupi Kaur, and every time I read her poetry I find myself feeling a little more hopeful, a little more brave, and a whole lot more happy to be alive. Her "self-love poetry for thinkers & feelers" is probably her most popular book, but I personally have so much love for "The Shift" because I read it at a point in my life when I was going through a very difficult - but very important - shift and I returned to it again and again for strength, guidance, and encouragement.
